Many players of the game ARC Raiders are asking Embark Studios to address a problem with a weapon called the Kettle. Some players are using it with macros – software that automates actions – to quickly eliminate opponents. While ARC Raiders, like many online games, also deals with cheaters, this Kettle issue is different. Some players argue that using macros with the Kettle isn’t actually against the game’s rules.
Players have noticed problems with several weapons in player-versus-player combat, not just the Kettle. Recently, concerns were raised about the power of ‘Trigger ‘Nades’ from the game ARC Raiders. Many believe these grenades are too strong because they deal a lot of damage, cover a large area, and explode almost instantly. While the Kettle is also causing issues, the problem seems different. Most players think the Kettle itself is fair, but its design is easily exploited by automated programs and other cheating software.
ARC Raiders PvP Is Suffering from a ‘Kettle Problem’
Videos circulating on social media, especially on Reddit, show players being quickly defeated by enemies using the Kettle weapon. Many players believe it’s impossible for a person to fire the Kettle that fast, leading to suspicions that some are using “macros” – automated actions created with software or special hardware. Specifically, people think players might be using macro-enabled mice or programs to simulate the rapid clicking needed to empty the Kettle’s magazine quickly.
Macros can be programmed to click very quickly, far faster than a person could. In the game Kettle, this could let a player fire many shots per second, potentially defeating an enemy in close combat with just a few hits. Even more concerning, macros can be used alongside cheating programs like aimbots, making the Kettle incredibly powerful and effectively guaranteeing a kill.

A lot of players are concerned that the use of macros could negatively impact the player-versus-player (PvP) experience in ARC Raiders. The question of whether macros are considered cheating or a legitimate tactic has been a recurring debate in gaming. We’ve seen pro players use macros to get an edge in competitions, and some argue that because macros don’t add completely new features to the game, they aren’t actually cheating.
Some people argue that any software or tool that changes how a game is meant to be played should be considered cheating, especially in competitive settings. This means even macros built into some gaming mice could be seen as giving players an unfair edge. They believe these tools are best suited for single-player or casual games, where they can simply make the experience more enjoyable, rather than creating problems in player-versus-player (PvP) games – like the issues that arose with macros in ARC Raiders.

This small, semi-automatic gun excels in close-quarters fights because it can fire very rapidly. Players often add an extended magazine to make it even more powerful. However, many now think the game developers, Embark, should adjust the weapon by reducing its fire rate and adding a limit to prevent macros from giving players an unfair advantage.
Major Nerfs Could Be on the Horizon for ARC Raiders’ PvP
With the way players are currently using weapons in ARC Raiders, the next update will probably reduce the power of a few items. The Kettles and Trigger ‘Nades are the most likely candidates for these changes, as they’re proving particularly effective. However, it’s still uncertain exactly how the developers at Embark Studios will adjust them, or if they’ll make any adjustments at all.
