ARC Raiders First-Person Works Surprisingly Well in New Clip

ARC Raiders was originally designed as a third-person extraction adventure game, and Embark Studios started developing it years ago. However, many players have been curious about how it would play as a first-person shooter. Now, we’re getting closer to finding out.

A recent social media clip showed a player using developer commands to change ARC Raiders. They forced the game into a first-person view, giving viewers a look at how it would play if it wasn’t a third-person shooter. Embark Studios has since removed the ability to use these commands.

ARC Raiders in First Person is Kind of Trippy

ARC Raiders is a highly praised extraction adventure game played from a third-person perspective. This approach is a refreshing change of pace in a genre typically dominated by first-person views, and it works exceptionally well.

A recently shared online clip offers a glimpse of ARC Raiders from a first-person perspective. While the footage is a bit rough around the edges – it was created using an exploit rather than being a standard feature – it hints at what the game could have offered players.

Players can now experience ARC Raiders in first-person! A Reddit user discovered a way to enable a first-person perspective using the game’s developer console. Even though the game doesn’t have specific animations for this view yet, it makes the game world feel much more immersive.

Embark Studios recently released a quick update to fix a problem where PC players were using secret commands to unfairly improve their gameplay. These commands allowed them to increase their field of view and turn off things like fog, giving them a significant advantage over players on PlayStation and Xbox.

This exploit is what led to the forced first-person perspective you see in the clip above.

Social media reactions were varied. Some people strongly felt the game should never include a feature allowing players to switch between first-person and third-person views, similar to PUBG. Others thought the first-person perspective looked more engaging.
