Okay, so I’m totally hooked on ARC Raiders, and apparently, a lot of other people are too! It’s crazy, but it’s already more popular on Steam right now than Battlefield 6. It’s only been out for a little over a week, but everyone’s loving it. I think it’s because it’s super easy to jump into, even if you’re new to the extraction shooter genre, and it’s actually fun to play by yourself. Word of mouth is clearly spreading, because the player count just keeps going up!
Despite launching on October 10th with a strong player base, especially after adding the free-to-play battle royale mode Battlefield RedSec, ARC Raiders has surprisingly surpassed one of the most popular shooter series in terms of active players. Both Battlefield 6 and ARC Raiders have generally received positive feedback, but ARC Raiders is more affordable at $40 compared to Battlefield 6‘s $70 price tag. Even with Battlefield RedSec being free-to-play, ARC Raiders‘ distinct approach appears to be resonating more with shooter fans.
ARC Raiders Now Has More Active Steam Players than Battlefield 6
According to SteamDB, ARC Raiders currently has over 460,000 players, making it the third most popular game on Steam, only behind Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2. Battlefield 6 has dropped to fourth place with just over 430,000 players, and many of those players are now playing ARC Raiders. It’s important to note that these numbers are just for Steam players, and Battlefield 6 might still be more popular on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Even though ARC Raiders is a newer game, Battlefield 6 still has more players – it reached a peak of over 747,000. ARC Raiders’ current player numbers are its highest yet, and the game’s community is excited that this new title from Embark has surpassed the popular Battlefield series.
Even with some server issues over the last few weekends, players are still enthusiastically playing ARC Raiders, drawn in by new events like the Hidden Bunker and the Electromagnetic Storm. While players have suggestions for improvements – a common request is a game mode focused solely on cooperative play, avoiding the intense player-versus-player combat – it’s clear that Embark Studio has created a game people enjoy. ARC Raiders‘ player numbers are consistently growing, and that trend is expected to continue with more planned content being released in the coming months.
