The recent Shrouded Sky update for Arc Raiders brings fresh challenges for players, but they’ll have to weather the storm to tackle them. Along with new quests, a new Surgeon Raider Deck, and map improvements, a new project called the Weather Monitoring System has begun. Completing this project requires the usual parts, but some stages also ask players to find new, unfamiliar materials.
The Hurricane map introduces new challenges in Arc Raiders, requiring players to gather more parts. This guide will show you how to find Comet Igniters, which are necessary to progress in the Weather Monitoring System project.
Where to Find Comet Igniters in Arc Raiders

The Comet Igniter is a component dropped by Comets, one of two new enemy types added in the Shrouded Sky update. Unlike some threats tied to specific times, Comets can appear both during the day and at night. The real challenge is destroying them before they self-destruct.

Comets are ARC-type projectiles, similar to Fireballs and Pops. They quickly approach, make a high-pitched sound, and then explode. They’re a bit bigger than Fireballs but smaller than Surveyors, and feature a single light sensor on the front.
Comets behave differently than Fireballs or Pops. You won’t usually find them indoors; instead, they tend to wander around outside, near landmarks and other interesting locations on each map.
If you want to get a Comet Igniter from a Comet, you have to destroy the Comet before it explodes. You can still search the wreckage after it blows up, but the Igniter itself will be gone.
How to Kill a Comet Before it Explodes in Arc Raiders
Comets are much tougher than Pops and require stronger weapons to destroy. While most guns won’t do much damage, weapons like Anvils, Ferros, and Bettinas are effective. Heavy Fuze Grenades, Trigger ‘Nades, and Seeker Grenades can also work, but might not take them down immediately. If you see a Comet on fire, quickly follow up with a few heavy shots to its sides.

Keeping your distance and catching the Comet off guard are key to defeating it. If you don’t have grenades, try to damage its armor from far away using an Anvil or Ferro. The further the Comet has to travel to reach you, the easier it will be to destroy it.
If you’re facing a Comet and have grenades, try to get close while staying hidden behind cover. Start with a powerful grenade like a Heavy Fuze or Trigger ‘Nade to seriously damage its armor, then use your Anvil to destroy it completely.

If you manage to disable a Comet before it blows up, you’ll get two sets of loot. The outer ring will give you common and rare ARC parts like ARC Coolant and Advanced ARC Powercells. The core will give you the Comet Igniter.
To complete the second stage of the Weather Monitoring System project, you’ll need at least one Comet Igniter. Later, in stage five, you’ll require a Firefly Burner, a new item added with the Shrouded Sky update.
