ARC Raiders: How to Level Up Scrappy Quick

Honestly, since I started playing ARC Raiders, Scrappy the rooster has totally stolen the show! We don’t know a ton about his story yet, which is kind of cool, but what is clear is that he’s essential for taking on the raiders. And it’s amazing—I haven’t met a single player who doesn’t adore him! He’s just that lovable.

Even though Scrappy is the easiest pet to care for in ARC Raiders, you still need to level it up. Since ARC Raiders is a looter shooter, you’ll have to go to the surface and find rare items to fully max out your feathered friend.

This guide provides a complete walkthrough for upgrading Scrappy, including a detailed list of all the necessary items. It also offers helpful tips and tricks to help new players maximize Scrappy’s potential quickly and efficiently.

Scrappy Upgrade Materials

Level/Title Requirements
Level 2 (Forager) 1 Dog Collar
Level 3 (Scavenger) 3 Lemons, 3 Apricots
Level 4 (Treasure Hunter) 1 Cat Bed, 6 Olives, 6 Prickly Pears

To upgrade your ARC Raider, Scrappy, simply take the necessary materials to the Workshop. There’s no waiting involved – you can upgrade Scrappy immediately as soon as you have everything you need, even to the maximum level.

Where to Find Each Material for Scrappy Upgrades

Here’s how to find all the items needed for Scrappy upgrades.

Dog Collar Location (Level 2)

If you’re looking for a Dog Collar in ARC Raiders, you’ll have the best luck searching Residential areas. These are easy to find – just look for groups of houses clustered together. Here are some of the top spots to start your search:

  • Pale Apartments (Dam Battlegrounds)
  • Grandioso Apartments (Buried City)
  • Santa Maria Houses (Buried City)
  • Red Tower (Buried City)
  • Ruined Homestead (Blue Gate)
  • Raider’s Refuge (Blue Gate)
  • Village (Blue Gate)

Lemon and Apricot Location (Level 3)

Okay, so as a fellow ARC Raider, I’ve found the best place to get Lemon and Apricot is definitely the Olive Grove on The Blue Gate map. If you’re looking elsewhere, Marano Park on the Buried City map is pretty good too – I usually find both of those ingredients there!

Prickly Pears (Level 4)

You can find Prickly Pears on the Dam Battlegrounds map by searching south of the Research and Administration building. They also appear frequently near Dune’s End in the Buried City.

Olive (Level 4)

The best place to collect Olives in ARC Raiders is the Olive Grove area on The Blue Gate map.

Cat Bed (Level 4)

The best places to find Cat Beds are generally Pale Apartments and Ruby Residence within Dam Battlegrounds.

Mushroom (Level 5)

Mushrooms are quite rare in ARC Raiders, but you can often find them at the Hydroponic Dome Complex in the Dam Battlegrounds map.

Very Comfortable Pillow (Level 5)

If you’re looking for Very Comfortable Pillows, the Pattern House in the Dam Battlegrounds map is a great place to check.

What Happens When You Level Up Scrappy

Scrappy automatically begins collecting items when you start a match and continues as you explore. While leveling up Scrappy doesn’t change how it collects, it does increase the amount of loot added to each collection point, meaning you’ll find more items faster as Scrappy levels up.

Are Scrappy Upgrades Worth It?

If you’re just starting out in ARC Raiders, make leveling up Scrappy a priority. This pet rooster gives you free resources that are key to crafting important materials and replacing items you lose on expeditions. Scrappy also frees you from gathering basic supplies while exploring, letting you concentrate on finding valuable loot and trinkets.

Best Way to Level Up Scrappy Fast

Upgrading Scrappy requires some hard-to-find items, especially fruits and mushrooms. These are often the biggest bottleneck for players, as they don’t appear very often and you usually get only a few at a time. To upgrade Scrappy faster, the best thing to do is participate in Lush Bloom events. During these events, fruit baskets appear more frequently and usually contain a lot of Olives, Apricots, Lemons, and Mushrooms.

Tips for Upgrading Scrappy as Quickly as Possible

  • Go in with a safe pocket. You don’t want to lose hard-earned fruits or trinkets to the ARC or other players. Make sure your loadout includes a safe pocket or two. If you lack the funds, trade a free loadout augment with Lance at the Clinic to get a Combat MK.1 augment with a safe pocket.
  • Try Night Raids. These limited-time events increase the chance of finding rare items, which can help with items like the Dog Collar and Cat Bed. The downside is that ARC and other players are more aggressive in this mode, so be prepared.
  • Track requirements. In Scrappy’s upgrade menu, the “Track” option places an eye icon next to the items you need when they appear during your searches.
  • Trade with a friend. Ask a friend who has already upgraded their Scrappy to share spare items. Enter the map with a safe pocket, have them drop the items you need, then place them in your pocket and extract.

How to Upgrade Scrappy’s Appearance

Making Scrappy better isn’t limited to just making him faster. You can also personalize him with unique items like hats and skins to change his appearance.

You can change how Scrappy looks by going to the Raider section in the main menu. Then, open the Customization tab and select Scrappy’s unique items. These items cost ARC Raiders Cred to unlock, but they’re generally affordable.
