Despite a recent 36.8% decrease in players since its late October release, the extraction shooter ARC Raiders remains incredibly popular. After a long development period, the game has proven to be worth the wait, receiving generally positive feedback from both players and critics. ARC Raiders has quickly become one of the most successful games of the year.
The game ARC Raiders has quickly become a sensation, topping Google searches in 2025 just months after its October release. It even surpassed popular titles like GTA 6 and Battlefield 6 in search interest, which is quite an achievement. ARC Raiders is also a frontrunner for Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards 2025. However, despite its success, the game has seen a decrease in concurrent players on Steam, with a drop of 36.8% from its peak.
A 36.8% decrease in players isn’t a huge drop for a game, and actually suggests that ARC Raiders is doing well. Many other games lose players much faster. This indicates ARC Raiders could stay popular on Steam for a long time. Currently, the game reached a peak of 481,966 concurrent players, with 304,424 playing in the last 24 hours, and 239,198 online right now.
ARC Raiders vs. Battlefield 6
Another major multiplayer game released in October was Battlefield 6. While it’s predicted to potentially be the best-selling game of 2025, it has seen a much larger decrease in players compared to ARC Raiders. Battlefield 6 initially reached 747,440 concurrent players on Steam, but its recent 24-hour peak is now 166,061, with 148,412 currently playing. This represents a significant drop of 77.8% since launch. Although Battlefield 6 was released earlier in October compared to ARC Raiders, which came out at the end of the month, the decline is still substantial. It’s noteworthy that ARC Raiders currently has 90,786 more players on Steam than this established franchise.
You can find ARC Raiders and Battlefield 6 on platforms besides Steam, including the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. We don’t have player numbers for the console versions, so it’s possible Battlefield 6 has more players overall than ARC Raiders, but we can’t confirm that.
Player numbers for both ARC Raiders and Battlefield 6 are expected to change over time. We can anticipate seeing boosts in players when special events happen or big updates are released. ARC Raiders is getting a “Cold Snap” update this month with new quests, and Battlefield 6’s “Winter Offensive” update arrives on December 9th, featuring temporary maps, a new weapon, and bug fixes. With both games offering multiplayer action, fans have plenty to play right now, and it will be interesting to see how each game evolves in 2026.
