ARC Raiders Players Have Found a New Exploit That Gives PC Player an Unfair Advantage

Players of the popular PC game ARC Raiders have discovered a new tactic that gives them an advantage over those playing on consoles. Developed and published by Embark Studios in late October, this PvPvE extraction shooter continues to be incredibly popular, currently boasting over 350,000 players on Steam – just below its record high. However, the game hasn’t been without its issues, and some players have expressed frustration.

Shortly after the game launched, players discovered they could lower the graphics settings to reduce the amount of foliage displayed, making it easier to spot opponents hiding in bushes. Later, PC players gained an unfair advantage by using Nvidia filters to brighten the game, allowing them to see better in the dark. This was temporarily fixed when Nvidia filters were disabled, though it wasn’t clear if the game developer, Embark Studios, or Nvidia themselves made the change. Now, a new workaround to re-enable the brightness exploit is circulating online, much to the annoyance of players.

ARC Raiders PC Gamers Have an Unfair Advantage Over Console Players

Players on PC have discovered a way to access a command console in ARC Raiders, and they’re using it to remove fog, dust, smoke, and other visual effects that limit visibility. This gives them an unfair edge in the game, and many players – on both PC and consoles – are asking the developers, Embark, to fix the issue. Some are surprised the command console was left accessible, while others don’t understand why anyone would alter the game’s immersive visuals just to gain an advantage. One player on Reddit, xforce11, perfectly captured the frustration: “Wow, so that’s why people can perfectly snipe my head… even though I threw like four smoke grenades…”

Cheating in ARC Raiders has recently become a significant and disruptive issue. While the game initially had few cheaters compared to other online games, with early exploits like passing through doors quickly fixed, the problem has grown as the player base has increased. Some players now report that the level of cheating in ARC Raiders is even worse than in Call of Duty, a game well-known for its cheating problems. Players are finding increasingly sophisticated ways to gain an unfair advantage.

Following a short break, the team behind ARC Raiders has promised to tackle the problem of cheaters. They plan to update the game’s rules and add new ways to detect and punish players who break them. Recently, players have been using a glitch to move outside the game’s boundaries and ambush others. Embark is working on a fix for this specific issue, and also developing tools to help streamers avoid ‘stream sniping’ – when players use a live broadcast to gain an unfair advantage.
