Players of ARC Raiders are asking Embark Studios to fix a frustrating issue: being unable to climb over small obstacles while downed. Videos have surfaced showing players stuck at Raider Hatches, unable to escape even though the game should allow extractions from the down-but-not-out (DBNO) state. While ARC Raiders technically lets players extract while downed, many are finding it difficult in practice.
In ARC Raiders, a PvPvE extraction shooter, the main goal is to escape each match with any items you find without being killed. When your health runs out, you enter a ‘down but not out’ state, giving you a chance to crawl to an extraction point and escape with your loot. However, you’ll move very slowly, and your health will continue to drop during this time. If your health reaches zero, you’ll die and lose everything you’ve collected.
ARC Raiders Players Are Struggling to Extract at Raider Hatches While Downed
A player named Nevborn980 shared a video on the ARC Raiders subreddit showing their character getting stuck while trying to use a hatch after being knocked down. The clip quickly gained traction, with many other players commenting that they’ve encountered similar issues. One user pointed out that the problem isn’t limited to hatches, explaining that the game has trouble with various terrains, causing characters to slip or get stuck. Another commenter simply stated the game “has a slipping surface problem.”
Raider Hatches are designed to let players quickly return to the safe zone of Speranza if they get into trouble while exploring the surface, as long as they have a Raider Hatch Key. They’re especially useful when a player is downed (DBNO), allowing a quick escape before their health runs out. However, it turns out using these hatches while downed is more difficult than expected, making them less effective for emergency escapes.
This game has a slipping surface problem.
The recent 1.2.0 update for ARC Raiders improved how easily players can interact with objects, but a frustrating issue remains. A player named Druidik pointed out on Reddit that you can still access Raider Hatches even when downed, and the update actually makes this easier. However, players still need to hit the edge of the hatch at a very specific angle to successfully open it.
This is a good start, but the penalty for downed players still feels too harsh, especially since the game’s Raider Hatch system is meant for these kinds of moments. We hope the developers continue to improve the slippery surface issue with future updates to ARC Raiders.
