The intense server load during its launch suggests that ARC Raiders is poised to be a major shooter this year, benefiting from the ongoing popularity of games where you collect loot and try to escape. ARC Raiders is a great entry point for players new to this type of game, offering a more balanced experience and welcoming a wider audience, but it’s still a challenging game. In fact, my experience has shown it’s quite difficult, focusing more on simply surviving than many similar games.
In ARC Raiders, a game where you battle both other players and robots, you’re always scanning your surroundings, unsure if the other people you meet are allies or enemies. While it’s tempting to rush in and fight, I’ve found that being stealthy – gathering supplies and avoiding conflict – is much more effective, especially when you’re first starting out. The game’s world is brutal, and it really makes every fight feel like a desperate struggle for survival.
ARC Raiders Players Really Can’t Afford to Gloss Over the ‘Free Loadout’ Option
Starting ARC Raiders can feel overwhelming, as you’ll begin with very limited resources in a dangerous world. As you play, you’ll collect gear, weapons, and parts that improve your chances of survival when exploring the “Rust Belt”. However, every expedition is risky – you could lose all your progress in a battle with ARC or Raiders. Luckily, the developers have added a “Free Loadout” option, which significantly reduces that risk.
Early in the game, when you’re mostly making quick trips to the Rust Belt for supplies, the Free Loadout is incredibly helpful. While it gives you random gear, which might seem frustrating at first, it’s actually a great way to try out different weapons in ARC Raiders without risking losing anything you’ve already earned. You’ll eventually get enough gear to not need it, but it’s a lifesaver when you’re just starting out.
Slow and Steady Wins the Race in ARC Raiders
Even with great equipment, ARC Raiders emphasizes careful observation over rushing into fights. The game does a fantastic job of using sound and visual clues to warn you about enemy players or the large, powerful machines around you. While you might be eager to test out new weapons, you’re much more likely to survive if you first take the time to scout out any nearby threats. Honestly, this careful, tactical approach to combat has created some of the most thrilling and engaging extraction shooter moments I’ve experienced, rivaling games like Hunt: Showdown 1896.
Even when playing ARC Raiders with teammates, knowing when to avoid a fight is crucial. This might sound strange for a shooting game, but it makes the battles you do get into much more exciting. I expect that as I play ARC Raiders more, I’ll be able to be more aggressive, but right now, just staying alive is often the best strategy.
