Embark Studios listened to players who participated in the recent ARC Raiders Server Slam (held October 17-19) and announced some important changes coming to the shooter when it officially launches later this month. ARC Raiders will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 30th. Before that, a surprise server test let anyone—even without pre-ordering—try out a bit of the game.
Following the positive reception of their free-to-play shooter The Finals, Embark Studios began developing ARC Raiders, aiming for another hit in the extraction shooter genre. Initially revealed as a cooperative third-person game at The Game Awards in 2021, the project shifted direction to a player-versus-player-versus-environment (PvPvE) extraction shooter after the team determined the original concept wasn’t enjoyable. After several testing phases with players over the past few months, Embark has announced the final adjustments they’re making before the game officially launches next week.
ARC Raiders Launch Changes Revealed
Embark Studios recently held a free-to-play test of their game, ARC Raiders, from October 17th on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC – even for those who hadn’t pre-ordered. This “Server Slam” was designed to check how well their game servers could handle the launch on October 30th, and players provided helpful feedback. The team has already started making improvements based on this feedback, including boosting stability for launch. They’re also reducing the power of flying enemies, as they were too easily detecting players, and adjusting a challenging area called The Dam Tower. Visuals are also being fine-tuned to enhance the overall experience.
So, Embark Studios dropped some numbers from the ARC Raiders Server Slam, and honestly, they’re pretty wild considering it was just a short test. We players fired off a massive 30 million rounds! We also took down 108,000 Queens and wrecked 58 million ARCs. And get this – over 2.3 million of us got knocked down by The Rocketeer! For only being able to play for three days, those stats really show that ARC Raiders could be the next huge thing in the extraction shooter genre. I’m definitely hyped!

The upcoming game ARC Raiders will soon face strong competition. Escape From Tarkov recently announced it’s coming to consoles and Steam on November 15th – just two weeks after ARC Raiders launches. Escape From Tarkov is a hugely popular ‘extraction shooter’, and its arrival on Steam is a significant event. While the exact console release date and platforms are still unknown, it’s clear that Battlestates Games has ambitious plans for the future of the game.
