ARC Raiders Reveals New Changes for Second Expedition

The next ARC Raiders Expedition is coming in a few weeks, and Embark Studios has announced the rewards players can earn. The first Expedition, which launched on December 22nd, gave experienced players a fresh start with benefits like more storage and helpful boosts. Some players thought earning those rewards required too much effort, so Embark is making significant improvements for this second reset of the game.

Unlike games like Escape from Tarkov, ARC Raiders handles its server resets in a unique way. Because it’s aimed at a more relaxed player base, the game doesn’t automatically erase everyone’s progress every few weeks or months. Instead, players can choose to participate in an Expedition, which permanently moves their character out of the current game world. To do this, they need to gather materials and build an Expedition Caravan. After the first Expedition last year, the developers listened to player feedback and have made improvements for the next one.

ARC Raiders Is Making Big Changes for Its Second Expedition

Players weren’t pleased with the rewards from last year’s ARC Raiders Expedition. Now, as the second Expedition approaches, Embark has announced some key changes. A new “catch-up” system will allow players who missed the first Expedition to earn the Skill Points they missed, including the five bonus ones. Embark explained in a recent blog post that these catch-up Skill Points will be cheaper, reducing the overall cost to fully upgrade skills with each Expedition.

Okay, so Embark is making some good changes for the next ARC Raiders Expedition. They’re dropping the cost of Skill Points! Before, maxing out at 5 Skill Points needed 5 million Stash worth of stuff, which felt like a grind. Now, after the wipe, each Skill Point will only cost 600,000. They’re also reducing the cost of the Skill Points we already earned from the first Expedition – they’ll cost an extra 300,000 each. Basically, if I want all 10 Skill Points – 5 from each Expedition – it’s going to take a total of 4.5 million Stash, which is way more manageable. Definitely makes me want to jump back in!

Players completing the Expedition for the first time will receive the standard rewards from the initial ARC Raiders Expedition. Those restarting the Expedition for a second time will get extra benefits. Importantly, any permanent bonuses earned from previous Expeditions will carry over, even if you choose to stop playing. The Patchwork outfit will gain four new customization options and two new colors for second-time players, alongside a brand-new Scrappy outfit. Rewards will increase with each consecutive Expedition completed, but will reset if you take a break from departing. See below for a complete list of rewards and bonuses.

Permanent

  • Cosmetics:
    • The Patchwork outfit (evolved)
    • Scrappy cosmetics
    • The Expedition Indicator icon (upgraded for each expedition completed)
  • Bonuses:
    • 12→24 Stash spaces
    • +0-5 Skill Points (+ catch up on missed Skill Points from the first Expedition, so 85 total is possible for those embarking on their second Expedition)

Consecutive

  • Buffs:
    • 5%→10% XP boost
    • 6%→12% Scrappy materials boost
    • 60%→70% Repair value increase

Players eager to join the second ARC Raiders Expedition can start preparing their Caravans now. Sign-ups begin on February 25th, and the expedition launches on March 1st. A new content update, called Shrouded Sky, is also coming this month, adding a new map condition – widely believed to be the Toxic Swamp – along with a new ARC threat, Raider Deck, and other exciting content.
