Embark Studios, the team behind ARC Raiders, recently showed off a new item coming in the upcoming Cold Snap update. Players currently have one musical instrument in the game, and now they’ll have even more options to create music while playing, as a trailer revealed that a Guitar is being added to the extraction shooter.
Even though it launched alongside two major first-person shooter games – Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – ARC Raiders has become very popular in recent months. The game quickly attracted over 481,000 players on Steam at its peak, making it one of the platform’s most-played titles. Almost seven weeks later, ARC Raiders still maintains an average of 300,000 concurrent players during peak hours. For comparison, Battlefield 6 typically peaks around 150,000 players, and Call of Duty around 65,000. The game’s continued success is likely due to its regular content updates, and a major new patch is scheduled to be released this week.
The latest Cold Snap update is the second major addition to ARC Raiders since its launch last October. It introduces a new ‘Snowfall’ condition that blankets the game world in snow, reducing visibility and making it tricky to move around. Staying out in the cold for too long will also be dangerous for players. Alongside this, a new Raider Deck with plenty of cosmetic items is being released, and players can finally begin the first phase of the Expedition Project, along with other new content.
ARC Raiders Is Adding a Guitar in Its Next Update
Embark Studios recently announced that a new Guitar item is coming to ARC Raiders with the Cold Snap update. Like the flute, it’s mostly for fun, letting players play music while exploring. However, a quick trailer suggests the guitar might attract nearby enemies, so players should be careful when using it out in the open.
Players have been using the Flute to signal peaceful intentions to others during raids, so the new Guitar will probably serve a similar function. It might even be possible to play the Flute and Guitar together! We’ll find out for sure when the update releases on December 16th.
This week, Embark also shared a look at a new outfit coming to ARC Raiders. The skin, revealed in a recent trailer, features a heavy coat and gloves – probably to help players withstand the game’s harsh new weather. It also includes solar panels on the arms that seem to power a device on the wrist, along with a mask, cap, and visor. However, some players have already expressed negative feedback, calling the skin “ugly” and “awful.”
Players are excited to see what improvements the next update for ARC Raiders will bring, especially regarding bug fixes and overall game quality. The game has been experiencing several issues lately. Although the developers recently fixed a glitch on two maps, players quickly discovered a new one. With the holidays approaching, the community is urging Embark Studio to resolve these problems quickly.
