ARC Raiders Reveals New Winter Event and Free Rewards

As a big fan of ARC Raiders, I was so excited to hear about the December Update, and Embark just dropped all the details! They’re adding a Winter Event with a really cool new map condition, another awesome community event, and even chances to snag some free rewards. I’ve been playing since the game launched on October 30th, and I think the consistent updates are a huge reason why so many of us are still enjoying it – they built a great game to begin with, and they’re clearly committed to making it even better!

Embark Studios launched to great success with strong sales and a large player base. They’ve kept players engaged with significant updates, including a community event that resulted in the popular Stella Montis map. This success culminated in ARC Raiders winning Best Multiplayer at The Game Awards 2025, and Embark shows no signs of stopping. Following that win, they’ve just announced details for their major December Winter Event update.

ARC Raiders Winter Event Details

Beginning December 16th, winter will arrive in ARC Raiders, changing the look of all the maps. In addition to the existing map conditions, players will face a new challenge called Cold Snap, which brings freezing temperatures and snow to one of the maps. This will limit visibility and, if players stay outside too long, cause frostbite.

Embark highlights that frostbite is a serious threat, capable of quickly eliminating a player if ignored. To survive, players must either find indoor shelter or continue healing. This new danger will likely change how players approach the game, as being exposed to the elements while camping or fighting could result in a swift return to Speranza.

Alongside the challenging new map condition, a new event called Flickering Flames is starting soon. Similar to an event in the game ARC Raiders, players will be asked to contribute items that provide light and warmth, and also gather a new plant called the Candleberry Bush. In return for these donations, players will earn Merits, which they can then use to claim various rewards.

The Winter Update offers more ways to progress in the game. Players with extra credits can unlock a free Raider Deck to get new items, resources, and gear—including a cool Goalie outfit. The update also brings new quests, the first opportunity to join an ARC Raiders Expedition, and a new Misthorn armor set available for purchase in the in-game store.

One of the things players enjoy about ARC Raiders is how unpredictable each match can be, offering fresh challenges and experiences. This is thanks to the variety of options available and how inventive players can be. For instance, players have been using a flute to signal they aren’t a threat. Now, with the Cold Snap update, the game is adding a guitar, probably through the new Raider Deck, which players can use during matches. This new instrument is sure to create some fun and unique interactions – maybe even a traveling mariachi band!
