I haven’t had this much fun with a shooter since I was really into Destiny 2 – back when it was at its best. I’ve spent around 3,000 hours playing Destiny 2 over the years, though I haven’t played nearly as much recently, and I know a lot of other players feel the same way. Even so, Destiny 2 is a game I always find myself going back to, whether it’s for a new update or just to enjoy it again.
Right now, I’m completely obsessed with Arc Raiders, and it feels like everyone else is too! It really has it all – smooth movement, satisfying loot, and incredibly intense, fast-paced combat. However, there’s one thing Arc Raiders seems to be lacking, and Destiny 2 already does it perfectly.
Arc Raiders’ Speranza Should Take a Note From Destiny 2’s Tower
I’ve had a lot of great times in Destiny 2 – from clan raids and strikes with friends, to battling in the Crucible. But some of my fondest memories come from simply spending time in the Tower. It was there I realized I wasn’t the only one on this adventure, surrounded by other players all working towards a common goal. I remember the familiar voices of vendors like Tess Everis and Master Rahool, and the fun of goofing around with strangers using silly emotes. The Tower is where the game felt more relaxed, and even now, I sometimes listen to its music and sounds to help me unwind.
I’m hoping to get the same cozy, lively feeling in Arc Raiders that I get in Destiny 2’s Tower, but right now, the game’s hub, Speranza, doesn’t quite offer that. Speranza has sounds of life – people talking, announcements, and work happening – but it feels distant. It would be great if Speranza felt more like a real community space, where players could connect between missions. I envision a social hub where all players can gather peacefully, and the vendors and characters feel like more than just interfaces.
Many players, including myself, wish the city in Arc Raiders felt more expansive and explorable. A recent Reddit post highlighted this, with one user suggesting we should be able to freely move between traders, our home base, a bar, and the launch site – a sentiment I strongly share. While some players are content with the current fast menus or prefer how things are now, the majority of comments echo the desire for a more immersive and detailed city environment.
Adding a social space like the Tower from Destiny 2 to Arc Raiders might not be the best idea, given the game already has a lot of inventory management and traveling between vendors would add extra steps. However, Arc Raiders is already very immersive, and a social hub could make that even better. The developers recently listened to player feedback by adding a Duos mode, so if enough players ask for a social hub, it’s possible it could happen. But if opinions remain split, it might not. I’m still hoping they’ll add one eventually.
