ARC Raiders Update 1.2.0 Hit One Target Too Hard

The latest update, 1.2.0, brings exciting new content to the popular extraction shooter, ARC Raiders. Players can now battle new ARC enemies, try out new weapons, and participate in the ‘Breaking New Ground’ event to unlock the Stella Montis map. However, the update also includes a significant nerf to one of the game’s most useful abilities, which many players feel was overly harsh.

So, ARC Raiders is a game where you’re fighting both other players and the environment while trying to grab loot – it’s a really cool mix! You can build your character however you want using three different skill trees: Conditioning, Mobility, and Survival. Honestly, if you want to get the most loot possible, the Security Breach skill in the Survival tree is amazing. But, the latest update, 1.2.0, made a change to it that a lot of us players are pretty upset about.

ARC Raiders’ Nerf to Security Breach Makes it Virtually Unusable

Security Breach is one of the last skills you can unlock in ARC Raiders, and it’s a great choice for players focusing on getting valuable loot during expeditions to the surface.

  • Security Breach: Lets you breach Security Lockers.

The Security Breach skill hasn’t changed, but you’ll find less valuable items in Security Lockers now. They used to be known for having really rare and powerful loot, such as:

  • Epic (purple) weapons
  • Blueprints
  • Wolfpack Grenades
  • Complex Gun Parts

Security Lockers used to be a great source of valuable materials, often containing several Epic items alongside more common ones. But after update 1.2.0 for ARC Raiders, Epic items are much rarer in these lockers. This makes them less rewarding to open compared to other containers found in the more dangerous areas of the game.

Security Breach Already Was Challenging Enough to Use as it Was

The most frustrating part of this change is that it wasn’t really needed. Security Breach was already a challenging perk to get before the update. It’s at the very end of the Survival skill tree, requiring players to spend 37 skill points – meaning they need to be at least level 37 – to unlock it. Even reaching that level is a significant accomplishment and deserves a good reward, but players also have to locate a Security Locker and successfully extract with its contents. This combination of challenges should already reward skillful ARC Raiders players.

ARC Raiders Players Who Missed Out on the Original Security Breach Skill Now Have a Disadvantage

A recent update to ARC Raiders has created a divide among players. Those who unlocked the Security Breach skill before the update can still access better loot from Security Lockers, like materials for upgrading and powerful weapons. However, players working to unlock the skill now receive lower-quality items, putting them at a disadvantage.

In ARC Raiders, getting blueprints quickly with the Security Breach skill used to give players a significant advantage. Now that Security Breach has been weakened, players who didn’t benefit from it before face a much harder challenge, as they no longer have access to the valuable loot found in Security Lockers for investing in the Survival skill tree. To keep things fair, the developers should have left the Security Lockers as they were, even if it meant players could still easily get rare items.
