Known as the “City of Progress,” Piltover showcases cutting-edge technology, while Zaun, positioned below it, is infamous for crime, danger, pollution, and the presence of monstrous champions. Despite these challenges, the inhabitants strive to survive day by day. One Arcane writer expressed a desire to explore another region beyond Piltover and Zaun in future spin-offs.

In an interview with GamesRadar, enigmatic writer Amanda Overton discussed the upcoming spinoffs of Arcane. She expressed her eagerness to delve into the region of Ionia, stating, “I’m really looking forward to examining Ionia, as they have a narrative and visual style that is more Eastern-influenced, which sets it apart from what we saw in Season 1 of Arcane.” She also mentioned her intention to launch the next story in a fresh region for a new beginning. Given that Noxus was extensively featured in Arcane, she wished to steer the new series in a different direction. “Given that we heavily featured Noxus in Arcane,” she explained, “it would be like starting something completely anew.” Previously, co-creator Christian Linke had hinted at three shows being developed post-Arcane, each set in distinct regions — Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia.

Beyond selecting her preferred region, Overton openly acknowledged her fondness for the diverse champions hailing from various regions and their intriguing backstories. What particularly captivated her was the presence of strong female leaders in the icy, tribal-dominated Freljord. “There’s just so much compelling content to explore,” she expressed. “I hope they get a glimpse into what a matriarchy is, as I believe it hasn’t been portrayed on screen before – that’s the allure of Freljord for me, with its matriarchal society, I was like ‘yes, something new and exciting!'” she added. The author hinted at an abundance of unique and entertaining characters in Runeterra, implying that viewers can anticipate more than just the three planned spin-offs.
