Are God Fruits in One Piece More Than Just Zoans?

Summary

  • Most fans believe in the existence of God Fruits in One Piece, potentially transforming users into different Gods.
  • The only currently confirmed God Fruit in One Piece is Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika revealed during the Wano arc, though Loki likely also has a Sun God fruit.
  • The Sea God Fruit, possibly controlled by Imu, could be the most powerful Devil Fruit and a Logia Type that assimilates into the ocean.

In the popular anime “One Piece,” the term “God Fruits” is a fan-coined concept that hasn’t been officially named within the storyline. However, it fits well with the established lore since there are acknowledged multiple divine beings in this series’ mythology. One such God, the Sun God, is said to be born from the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika.

Most enthusiasts assume that “One Piece” fruits resembling Devil Fruits like Luffy’s, which grant the ability to transform into other deities, are Mythical Zoans. Yet, it’s worth considering if all these special fruits could be Paramecia or Logia types instead. This theory aligns with our understanding of the world, but let’s explore how some of these so-called God Fruits might fall under the categories of Paramecia and Logia.

How God Fruits Can Be Paramecia Or Logia Types

The Different Kinds Of Devil Fruits

In the ongoing narrative of One Piece, I’ve noticed that only one God Fruit has been confirmed so far – Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. Initially, this Paramecia was portrayed as granting Luffy the ability to transform his body into rubber. However, during the Wano arc, it became evident that its true power had been concealed all along. This Devil Fruit, unbeknownst to many, holds the potential to transform Luffy into the legendary Nika, a God of Liberation, who roamed the world spreading freedom and liberation.

In Mont Blanc Noland’s recollection during the Skypiea arc, Nika was initially referred to vaguely, identified as the Sun God. Remarkably, this is where the deities such as the Rain God, Earth God, and Forest God were also discussed. This has led fans to speculate that there could be several God Fruits existing. Interestingly, it’s worth noting that Loki now possesses a legendary ability, which he and the Giants of Elbaf attribute to the Sun God Devil Fruit.

I am the Sun God who will bring about the end of the world!

It’s plausible that Loki’s Devil Fruit is another Mythical Zoan type, allowing him to transform into a Sun Deity of sorts, as even Elbaf acknowledges the folklore about Nika’s appearance. This raises curiosity about how other God Fruits might operate in the One Piece world and who might possess them. Many fans speculate that, apart from Loki, the only proven God Fruit owned by a character is the Rain God Fruit, which they assume belongs to Monkey D. Dragon.

It’s plausible because the last time Dragon showed his hidden powers was in Loguetown long ago. Given his extraordinary and terrifying ability to conjure destructive storms capable of wiping out entire ships and crowds, it seems fitting that his Devil Fruit grants him control over weather, which aligns well with the concept of a Rain God, categorized as a Paramecia Type Devil Fruit.

In the world of One Piece, possessing such a power could be considered one of the most remarkable abilities, potentially qualifying it as a Devil Fruit power worthy of being a God Fruit. For instance, Whitebeard’s legendary Gura Gura no Mi might have been another Paramecia God Fruit, perhaps even the Earth God Fruit. Its unprecedented strength and the ability to cause seismic activity suggest that it could tear the entire world apart if the user so desired.

Additionally, the Elbaf mural in Chapter 1138 and the terrifying dream of Elbaf’s children in Chapter 1142 seem to imply a counterbalance to the Nika fruit.

It’s plausible that this fruit might not be the legendary Zoan ‘Dark Nika’, but instead, it could be Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit known for nullifying the abilities of any other Devil Fruits. This would make it an intriguing counterpoint to Luffy’s Nika fruit. If indeed these fruits are connected in this manner, it could elevate the Final Saga beyond being just another Zoan-centric storyline and allow all types of Devil Fruits to significantly impact the series’ conclusion.

The Sea God Fruit Could Be A Logia

Perhaps The Strongest Fruit Of Them All

In the final moments of Chapter 1138 within the Elbaf arc, I stumbled upon an astounding revelation – one of the franchise’s most significant to date. This mind-blowing disclosure delved deep into the origins of earlier worlds and provided precious insights into the Void Century. A reference was made to a hitherto unknown Sea Deity, a character that numerous fans speculate could be none other than Imu. The title “Sea God” suggests an unfathomable power, leading many to surmise that Imu possesses a Mythical Zoan, enabling them to metamorphose into something capable of commanding the seas.

On the contrary, it’s suggested that the Sea God fruit might not be a standard Devil Fruit, but instead, a Logia Type that enables the user to merge with the ocean. This idea contradicts everything we know about Devil Fruits so far. If true, this would be an incredibly powerful Devil Fruit in the series, one that could potentially make even Luffy vulnerable when he’s in his Nika state, as it could affect anyone who isn’t the Sea God themselves.

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
