Lately, Snail Games USA unveiled a fresh trailer for ARK: Aquatica, an upcoming expansion for ARK: Survival Evolved. Notably, Studio Wildcard, the main developer of the series, has publicly distanced itself from this project on social media platforms, and it’s understandable why.
As an eager fan, I must admit that the recently released trailer felt predominantly like a glimpse into the capabilities of a gen-AI, with only a brief sneak peek of gameplay at the beginning. This disparity is quite noticeable and has sparked criticism among us fans online.
Naturally
The brief 1-minute teaser for ARK: Aquatica contains unmistakable signs of artificial intelligence, making it evident to even an inexperienced viewer that something seems amiss.

The entire trailer content provides no insight into the expansion; instead, it’s merely a collection of visuals featuring odd AI characters delving into an underwater-themed realm. In one scene, a character discharges a harpoon gun, which seems unusual enough to make one question how this made the cut at Snail Games.
It’s disappointing, really, as it’s not even of high quality – I’ve encountered better and more accurate AI content in Snapchat filters. A quick look at the comments under the video suggests that people aren’t impressed. When I took a closer look, I found over 1,000 negative comments criticizing the AI-generated content.
According to the details provided for the DLC, ARK: Aquatica invites players to immerse themselves in the vast oceanic depths where they’ll encounter fresh creatures, innovative gameplay elements, and hidden perils that lie beneath.
Lately, Wildcard Studios unveiled ARK: Lost Colony, the primary expansion for ARK: Survival Evolved. This expansion aims to smooth the transition between ARK and the yet-to-be-released ARK 2, which currently doesn’t have a set launch date.
