Arknights: Endfield Launch Facing Payment Issues That Charge Players Random Amounts

Okay, so Arknights: Endfield is finally here! There was a ton of buzz building up to this, and honestly, everything looked good for its launch. Hypergryph, the studio behind it, really seemed to have nailed everything for a smooth start. I’ve been waiting for this one!

Honestly, the hype around this game is insane! It launched after a ton of great previews, and get this – over 35 million people pre-registered! That’s a massive number, and it really set the stage for a big launch.

The initial excitement of the celebration didn’t last long, as players immediately started experiencing problems with their payments.

Massive Overcharges Spark Outcry in the Community

Several Reddit users reported this Thursday that their PayPal accounts were unexpectedly charged random, and sometimes very large, amounts when they tried to buy in-game passes for Arknights: Endfield. Links to the discussions can be found here, here, and here.

One user reported losing their entire bank balance of £1,200 and facing immediate bills, describing the situation as “completely crazy and unacceptable.” Another player experienced a smaller issue, being incorrectly charged $69.99 for a monthly subscription.

Things came to a head when users reported severe financial losses, with one person claiming they’d never recover after losing approximately €15,264.19 in a single transaction, as shown in a screenshot they shared.

Looking at what fans have reported, the prices they paid seem to differ greatly. However, there’s one thing they all have in common: they all paid through PayPal. It appears those who used credit cards, debit cards, or other payment options didn’t experience the issue.

Because the problem was so serious, developers quickly released a statement confirming it. The Hypergryph team said they were already working on a solution and promised to refund any incorrect charges as quickly as possible.

One user claimed they suffered a financial loss they don’t expect to recover from, posting a screenshot of a transaction for €15,264.19 as evidence.

The Arknights: Endfield team announced on their official account that the PayPal payment option is temporarily unavailable due to maintenance and upgrades. They advise players to use other payment methods in the meantime.

So, the devs just posted an update about that payment problem earlier. Turns out it only hit a small number of us who bought the game through PayPal, specifically using the official launcher. Apparently, there was a glitch where our purchases didn’t immediately register in the game. They said it was just a limited number of orders, so hopefully, they’re getting it sorted out quickly!

The studio says most refunds will be issued within four hours. If you don’t receive your refund after that time, please reach out to the support team at endfield_cs@gryphline.com, and be sure to include your account server and UID in your message.

The developers have fixed the recent launch issues and apologized for the trouble. They explained that keeping the service stable and secure is their main focus, and that data security is especially important to GRYPHLINE. They’ve temporarily turned off the PayPal payment option and won’t turn it back on until they’ve completely fixed the problem and tested everything thoroughly. They again apologized for the inconvenience.
