Arteezy Has Stepped Down From Shopify Rebellion

As a long-time follower and fan of Dota 2, I have witnessed Arteezy’s impressive career unfold since his breakthrough into the scene over a decade ago. His consistent performances and impressive earnings, totaling almost $3 million, have made him one of the most respected and wealthiest players in the community. However, despite his achievements, there has always been a sense of unfulfilled potential.

Arteezy, also known as Artour Babaev, has recently declared his decision to leave Shopify Rebellion due to underperforming in the last few months. Although the team is managing fairly well, Arteezy expressed his concern about not meeting expectations for his role and felt it was necessary for him to take a step back. His gameplay has been evaluated as being strong online but disappointing during live tournaments, which echoes his past experience with EG.

For some players, the difference is massive.

Moving On

I’ve decided to take a step back from my gaming role in our team, and Pakazs will be taking over for me. In a recent post on social media, I shared the reasons behind this tough choice.

After the finish of TI 2023, I was eager to start a fresh roster with Shopify’s backing. But as things went on, it became clear that I wasn’t fully ready for the responsibilities of managing a new team and setting its culture. My motivation waned, and unfortunately, I played a part in the team’s downfall and eventual failure.

Arteezy shared that he’s been pondering over going back to Europe since 2016. Previously, he represented North American teams such as Evil Geniuses and Shopify Rebellion. His European experience was limited to a short-lived tenure with Team Secret in the middle of that year.

Arteezy is a highly successful Dota 2 player with approximately $3 million in earnings amassed over the past decade. Yet, despite his impressive skills, some notable accomplishments in the Dota 2 world have eluded him. He has competed in every edition of The International since 2014; however, his best result was finishing in third place.

Fans need not worry that he’s leaving Dota behind; as a streamer, he intends to keep engaged with the community and continue being an active presence, no matter the future developments.
