As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I must say that Snow White, the enchanting Disney princess, has held a special place in many hearts since the 1937 animation, “Snow White,” raked in an impressive $418 million across multiple releases, all based on the classic German fairy tale. However, the live-action adaptation of this timeless tale seems to have divided audiences more than it has united them. It’s become quite clear that this modern take is not universally loved, particularly due to its commercial focus.
The controversy surrounding this film began when Rachel Zegler expressed her desire to reinterpret Snow White as a self-reliant heroine who doesn’t need Prince Charming during a press tour. This vision clashed with the expectations of fans who hold the original story close to their hearts. To add fuel to the fire, Disney made the contentious decision to replace the beloved dwarves with CGI counterparts instead of casting live actors.
This series of events has led to “Snow White” posting extremely poor opening weekend numbers, leaving many to question the direction in which Disney is taking this cherished tale.
