There’s a possibility that the social stealth element, a well-loved aspect from the Assassin’s Creed series, might reappear in one of the future games within this franchise.
Following the launch of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, fans are eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series. Lately, there has been a legal threat from Ubisoft towards the actor associated with Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag due to errors regarding the remake disclosures. Now, the creators have hinted that an older feature might not be completely abandoned within the franchise, suggesting it could reappear in an upcoming game.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Devs Reveal Why It Didn’t Have Social Stealth
In a recent AMA (Ask Me Anything) session with the game developers on the r/assassinscreed subreddit, as reported by GamesRadar+, inquiries were made regarding the potential return of “social stealth elements” and why they weren’t included in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.
The developers clarified that all their focus for Assassin’s Creed Shadows went into creating an immersive, tactical shinobi experience in each moment. As a result, social stealth features were not included in this game. However, it’s important to note that the absence of social stealth in this specific game does not imply it has been removed from the Assassin’s Creed series altogether.
If you’re curious, social camouflage was a characteristic found in past Assassin’s Creed games that enabled the main character to evade detection from adversaries and pursuers by merging seamlessly with the surrounding crowd.

Assassins Vs. Templars Conflict is the Core Pillar of the AC Series
In the same AMA session, the developers mentioned that the struggle between Assassins and Templars has always been a central foundation of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. With Shadows, they aimed to root their main character within this setting first before delving into the conflict further. Now that it has been addressed in the primary game and through the Critical Role storyline addition, players can anticipate deeper exploration of this conflict in the upcoming future.
