Ubisoft recently revealed the new leadership team for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. All three leaders are long-time Ubisoft employees with a proven track record on the series, including the popular Assassin’s Creed Black Flag.
Marc-Alexis Côté, a veteran of Ubisoft with over 20 years of experience – including more than 10 years leading the Assassin’s Creed franchise – departed the company in October 2025. He had spent approximately five years as the executive producer for Assassin’s Creed, managing all projects within the series. His departure created a significant leadership challenge for Ubisoft, and the company has now appointed someone to fill the role.

On February 23, 2026, Ubisoft announced new leadership for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Martin Schelling is the new Head of Brand, responsible for guiding the team, setting the overall strategy, and shaping the long-term future of Assassin’s Creed. Schelling is a veteran of the series, having previously worked as a producer on popular titles like Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla.
François De Billy is the new Head of Production Excellence for the Assassin’s Creed series. He’ll be helping Ubisoft’s development teams improve how games are made and delivered. De Billy brings a lot of experience to the role, having previously led production on popular Assassin’s Creed titles like Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla.
Jean Guesdon has joined the leadership team for Assassin’s Creed, taking on the role of Head of Content. He’ll be responsible for the creative vision of the Assassin’s Creed series, overseeing current and future games while staying true to what makes the franchise special. Guesdon is well-known for his work as creative director on Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins, though he first contributed to the series with 2009’s Assassin’s Creed 2. Ubisoft announced this new leadership team, and Jean Guesdon shared a message to accompany the news.
It’s fantastic to be returning to Assassin’s Creed after so long. This franchise has been a huge part of my career, and it truly feels like coming home. I’ve always cherished the worlds, characters, and especially the community. I’m thrilled to be working on this journey with all of you again, and I’m excited to share what’s next for the series. For now… Nothing is True. Everything is Permitted.
Martin Schelling, François De Billy, Jean Guesdon, Andrée-Anne Boisvert (producer for Assassin’s Creed’s cross-brand projects and Head of Technological Excellence), and Lionel Hiller (Vice President of Brand and Go-to-Market Strategy) will lead the Assassin’s Creed franchise as its new leadership team.
The recent announcement of a new leadership team at Ubisoft has sparked a lot of discussion among fans on Reddit. Overall, the response from the Assassin’s Creed community has been positive. Many are happy to see experienced developers who have worked on popular Assassin’s Creed games taking the lead. However, some fans remain concerned about the future of the series, particularly after the recent job cuts and project cancellations at Ubisoft.
