In 2023, Assassin’s Creed Mirage received additional content unexpectedly, courtesy of Ubisoft. This game was recently added to Xbox Game Pass. Due to the influx of new players, it appears that there’s more to explore in Basim’s backstory than initially thought.
The game is set in Baghdad during the 9th century, where you assume the role of Basim Ibn Ishaq. Interestingly, an older version of this character appears as Eivor’s mentor in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Although Mirage has been surpassed by the latest installment, Ubisoft’s recent announcement indicates that there’s still additional content planned for this stealth-focused game.

The Assassin’s Creed account announced on Twitter that this year, players can expect fresh content. This isn’t just about enhancing the gameplay, but also introducing a completely new setting – Al Ula – along with an engaging storyline. And the best part? This additional content is free for those who already own the game! However, a specific release date hasn’t been disclosed yet, just that it will come out this year.
It’s worth noting that additional content for older games is common, but Assassin’s Creed Mirage stands out given its age – it was released prior to the recent AC Shadows game. Interestingly, it will also receive a free DLC later in September.
Adding fresh content, particularly story elements, to Mirage could imply connections to Shadows or potential sequels such as Hexe. Regardless, the game’s inclusion in Xbox Game Pass is likely to generate interest, as an increased number of players will now have the opportunity to enjoy the DLC when it’s released.
