Summary
- Players can’t disable Canon Mode in Assassin’s Creed Shadows once activated.
- Canon Mode is ideal for fans wanting to stick to the canonical story without worrying about dialogue choices.
- Players have to choose between having Canon Mode on or off at the beginning of the game.
In the upcoming game “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” set in feudal Japan and long-awaited by fans, Ubisoft has confirmed that once activated, the Canon Mode cannot be deactivated. This unique feature is one of many exciting new elements introduced in this installment of their stealth action series.
In “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, Canon Mode allows players to eliminate dialogue choices, immersing them in the main storyline as intended. This is ideal for dedicated “Assassin’s Creed” enthusiasts who wish to follow the events precisely and prefer not to decide on dialogue, which could alter a character’s traits along the way. While this seems like a useful optional feature at first glance, it’s essential to be aware of a caveat: selecting Canon Mode may impact certain elements of the gameplay experience before you make your decision.
In simpler terms, once you activate the Canon Mode for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” it cannot be altered throughout your gameplay. This means that if you select Canon Mode, you are committed to playing with it until you start a new save file. It doesn’t affect the game’s difficulty, but the choice to switch between the two playable characters in the open world remains available.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Canon Mode Can’t Be Turned Off Once Activated
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it seems wiser to postpone enabling Canon Mode until later in the game, as my choices might significantly alter events and deviate from the main storyline. It’s puzzling why I can’t disable it during gameplay, though. Perhaps, we’ll still have access to all the canonical dialogue options regardless. It leaves me questioning why there isn’t an option to turn Canon Mode off mid-game. However, the choice between Canon Mode or not is something I must make at the very beginning, as the video Ubisoft shared demonstrates that this decision is made during a conversation between Yasuke and Oda Nobunaga in AC Shadows.
On March 20th, as I eagerly await the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, I can’t help but wonder which path players will choose: Will they stick with Canon Mode or opt for customizable dialogue options? If this feature resonates strongly with gamers, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Ubisoft considering its return in future editions.
