Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji All Sumi-e Locations

Similar to the main game, *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, *Claws of Awaji* lets you find beautiful spots around the island to paint as optional Sumi-e activities. But in this expansion, these paintings are part of a sidequest called ‘Painting Memories,’ given by Junjiro. This quest becomes available when you return to your Hideout from the island for the first time.

If you meet Junjiro at the Hideout, he’ll ask to join you on your journey to explore the island. Since it’s too risky to bring him, you promise to find something for him during your travels. This starts the ‘Painting Memories’ sidequest, and finishing it will earn you the ‘Breathtaking’ achievement. This guide will show you where to find all the Sumi-e locations on Awaji Island, complete Junjiro’s request, and unlock the achievement.

Claws of Awaji All Sumi-E Map Locations

You’ll find the first Sumi-e painting spot in *Claws of Awaji* right in the middle of the island, close to the Izanagi Shrine. The story will lead you there, and you’ll be asked to paint the shrine’s tree, capturing the history of this important religious landmark.

You can reach the second Sumi-e location by following the Trail of Eshima, which is north of Iwaya Castle. The trail is a simple but fun path that requires players to use both Naoe’s movement skills and the grappling hook. At the end, Naoe will arrive at the Eshima Rock, offering a beautiful view of the sea.

The third and final Sumi-e painting is located in the southwest corner of the *Claws of Awaji* map. You can only reach it by completing the Trail of the Naruto – a long path that takes Naoe through the mountains above the shipwrecks. As you explore the trail, you’ll find hidden treasure chests and optional targets to eliminate (these become available after finishing the main story), so be sure to look around. Reaching the end of the trail rewards Naoe with a breathtaking view of the Naruto Whirlpools, inspiring the final painting to share the beauty of Awaji Island with Junjiro.

Claws of Awaji Painting Memories Quest Rewards

Similar to how Sumi-e paintings work in the main *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* game, completing each new Sumi-e in the DLC unlocks a unique artwork. Players can use these paintings to personalize Naoe’s Hideout by displaying them on walls – but first, you’ll need to prepare those walls in Building mode.

Once you’ve finished the three Sumi-e paintings on Awaji Island and reported back to Junjiro at the Hideout, he’ll be thrilled and give you his own painting as a thank you – it’s called Junjiro’s Painting. This beautiful ink artwork shows three people enjoying a close, family-like bond and can be displayed to decorate the Hideout. You’ll also earn experience points for completing the quest.

Okay, so I finally finished Junjiro’s Sumi-e sidequest, and it unlocked this achievement called ‘Breathtaking’! Just a heads-up though – it looks like you need to own the *Claws of Awaji* DLC to get it. Definitely worth it if you have the DLC, though!
