Assassin’s Creed Shadows Coming to Switch 2?

Summary

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been rated for the Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Ubisoft was previously rumored to be planning extensive Switch 2 support.
  • The only Ubisoft title that has so far been confirmed for the Switch 2 is Star Wars Outlaws, which is coming to the eShop on September 4.

It’s possible that “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” might appear on the rumored next Nintendo console, the Switch 2. If this turns out to be true, it would make “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” the first game in the series to debut on Nintendo’s upcoming system.

After experiencing several postponements, “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” finally hit shelves on March 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Ubisoft, its developer and publisher, hasn’t disclosed any specific sales numbers yet, but they announced that this latest AAA game attracted over 3 million players within the first week of release. Some industry analysts have even predicted that “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” could be one of the top-selling games of 2025 thus far.

It appears that the open-world ARPG titled “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” might be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, as indicated by its recent PEGI rating and appearance on their homepage under the “Most Searched Games.” Though there’s no explicit mention of the Switch 2 in the PEGI database, the game is currently listed with it as a potential platform. Previous rumors about an “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” port for the Nintendo Switch 2 have been floating around online, but this rating provides the first substantial evidence that the port could indeed be in development.

PEGI’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows Switch 2 Rating

It’s not unusual for Ubisoft games (or their ports) to be leaked through age ratings before they are officially announced. In fact, PEGI has been responsible for several Ubisoft leaks in recent times. For instance, Game Rant revealed the existence of a multiplayer shooter game named Captain Laserhawk as early as January 2024, thanks to a PEGI rating that surfaced online more than nine months before the game’s actual release.

Many Ubisoft Games Are Reportedly Coming to the Nintendo Switch 2

Despite speculation about “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” potentially arriving on Nintendo’s upcoming next-generation console, Ubisoft appears to be focusing heavily on supporting the Switch 2. Whispers suggest that games like “Assassin’s Creed Mirage,” “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege,” and the “The Division” series might be heading for the Switch 2. At present, Ubisoft has only confirmed one game for the Switch 2, namely “Star Wars Outlaws,” which is set to release on the eShop on September 4.

Due to the Switch 2 being backward-compatible, it will allow players to enjoy numerous Assassin’s Creed games right from launch, such as The Ezio Collection, AC3: Remastered, AC Rogue, and AC4: Black Flag. If a Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is released, it wouldn’t be the first time fans could play the 2025 game on-the-go, as it’s currently playable on portable PCs like the Steam Deck.
