As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that this news about Assassin’s Creed Shadows being delayed to February 2025 has left me both disappointed and somewhat amused. On one hand, I’ve been eagerly awaiting an Assassin’s Creed game set in Feudal Japan, a setting that promises to be rich and immersive. On the other hand, I’ve learned over the years that patience is a virtue when it comes to triple-A titles, especially those as ambitious as this one seems to be.
Ubisoft has moved back the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows from its original date to February 14, 2025. As explained in the following update on X, the developers require extra time to perfect and enhance the gameplay experience. Furthermore, those who pre-ordered the title will get a refund, while early pre-orders will receive the initial expansion at no additional cost.
Yesterday’s news follows our earlier report that the press previews for Assassin’s Creed Shadows were unexpectedly called off, as initially disclosed by us at TopMob.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will now release February 14, 2025.

Here’s Marc-Alexis Côté’s statement on behalf of the teams working on Assassin’s Creed Shadows:
Assassin’s Creed: Shadow’s Realization is a long-cherished endeavor for our team; it marks the transition of the series to Feudal Japan, enriched with community-driven aspects like parkour and revamped stealth, made possible by cutting-edge technology. All these elements unfold in an aesthetically pleasing and captivating environment.
This is an ambitious addition to the franchise, a rich experience that can be lived through the eyes of two unique protagonists – but we realize we need more time to polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features.
Consequently, we’ve chosen to delay the launch until Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025. The game will debut on multiple platforms simultaneously, with Steam being one of them at launch. Furthermore, existing pre-orders will be refunded and all future pre-orders will come with the first expansion package for free.
It’s unfortunate news, no doubt, for those eagerly anticipating an Assassin’s Creed game set in Feudal Japan. However, we firmly believe that this decision serves the best interests of the game, ensuring a fantastic gaming experience for you. Take heart, as we eagerly look forward to when you’ll embark on an unforgettable journey with Naoe and Yasuke.
Until then, we thank you for your ongoing support
