It’s been a little over seven months since Assassin’s Creed Shadows was released, and about a month since the first big add-on, Claws of Awaji, came out. Ubisoft is still working to improve and update the game for its many players.
On October 23rd, Simon Lemay-Comtois, an Associate Game Director for Shadows, shared that Ubisoft is still working to enhance the player experience in the game. He announced that several significant free updates are planned for release this fall.
The first update is coming out on Tuesday, October 28th, and the second will follow on Tuesday, November 25th. That second update will arrive just a week after the free Valley of Memory DLC is released for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
In addition to the regular free updates, Ubisoft Quebec’s Lemay-Comtois and team announced that Shadows will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2nd. Players will be able to continue their progress across different platforms, and the game will include all previously released content and updates. The Claws of Awaji DLC will arrive on the Switch 2 at a later date in 2026.

The next update for Shadows will improve gameplay based on player feedback and include features many players have been asking for.
These features include:
- An Advanced Parkour toggle option in Shadows‘ Gameplay settings which will enable side and back eject parkour options from any height.
- An extension to the vertical ledge grab in parkour to allow it to work in most situations, even on non-standing objects like beams and lanterns.
- A manual jump option from non-standing objects
- A directional catch-ledge mechanic, allowing Naoe to catch ledges at the last minute when falling, similar to how Ezio Auditore was able to do so in Assassin’s Creed 2.
Title Update 10 adds a new activity called Corrupted Castles. Each season, up to five castles you’ve already finished will be repopulated with dangerous Animus enemies and offer new reward chests.

The next update for Shadows, Title Update 11, will add a new story quest called “A Puzzlement.” This quest will introduce enemies from Naoe’s history who are trying to make amends and become part of the Kakushiba Ikki.
As Naoe and Yasuke travel together, they’ll each learn new skills from one another. Naoe will pick up a version of Yasuke’s powerful kick, and Yasuke will learn how to quietly subdue enemies without killing them. Eventually, they’ll test out their new abilities in a playful sparring match.
The upcoming update will add a new puzzle tied to the ancient Isu civilization. It will also feature a collaboration with another popular franchise, details of which will be announced soon. This follows the successful Dead by Daylight collaboration that took place in May.
