In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players will find themselves making numerous decisions unless they choose to play using Canon Mode. The initial decision arises right at the start of the prologue when one of the game’s dual protagonists encounters Oda Nobunaga.
In the story of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, Nobunaga expresses his wish to converse with Diogo but regrets that his guest doesn’t speak Japanese. At this juncture, players will have the chance to affirm Nobunaga’s speculations and inform the powerful daimyo that they comprehend him.
Should You Choose I Understand You Well or Say Nothing? (Spoiler Free)
In simpler terms, it doesn’t matter if players pick ‘I understand you well’ or remain silent. During gameplay with Canon Mode activated, Diogo decides to clarify his understanding to Nobunaga, which could be considered the ideal move. However, the decision to speak up or not holds no influence on the main plot and only subtly affects how this specific interaction transpires.
What Happens if You Choose I Understand You Well?
If players indicate they comprehend Nobunaga thoroughly, he decides to question Diogo privately about his complexion. Subsequently, he inquires about Diogo’s ties with the Portuguese and then invites Valignano and others back into the room. From that moment forward, the sequence of events unfolds identically as if players had opted to remain silent, with Nobunaga agreeing to Valignano’s proposal, following the canonical account of what transpired.
What Happens if You Say Nothing?
If players opt for silence, Nobunaga will disclose that he is aware Diogo understands Japanese and inquire why Diogo deceived him. At this juncture, players can either accuse Valignana for Diogo’s deceit or explain that they are still learning the Japanese language and culture. Regardless of their response, their decision won’t impact the outcome, as Nobunaga will agree to Valignano’s request provided that Diogo remains with him.
For the second option, there’s no universally accepted right answer since the circumstances that led to it are not part of the established storyline (or main narrative).
