Summary
- Players on Steam won’t need the Ubisoft Connect Launcher for Assassin’s Creed Shadows; they just need to link their account.
- While not a complete disconnect, it’s still good for fans who want all their games in one place.
Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows players on Steam won’t have to install the Ubisoft Connect Launcher to play the game. This will be great news for gamers who like all their games to be in one place, although there is still a small catch for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ release date is fast approaching, but the road to its launch hasn’t all been smooth sailing. The game has been delayed multiple times, with Ubisoft remaining aware that it needs a big hit, especially with its flagship franchise. It will be the first RPG in the franchise since 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, making it quite a wait for fans who prefer the bigger-scale games in the series. Hopefully, Ubisoft delaying the game until it’s ready for release is a sign that gamers are in for a great experience on March 20.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Won’t Require Ubisoft Connect Launcher on Steam
There has been quite a bit of good news for Assassin’s Creed Shadows fans on Steam of late. It was recently confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be playable on the Steam Deck at launch, which is a change from its previous position that it initially would not be. Hopefully there’s even more good news for fans in the lead up to its March 20 release date.
Post-Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it doesn’t seem like Ubisoft is planning to slow down with its flagship franchise. Despite taking a three-year break between Valhalla and Mirage from 2020 to 2023, rumors suggest that Ubisoft is planning to release a new Assassin’s Creed game every six months for the next decade. While that sounds extremely aggressive, this wouldn’t necessarily be a massive release every six months. While the rumor should of course be taken with a grain of salt, it does risk franchise fatigue on a major scale. Let’s just see how Assassin’s Creed Shadows turns out first.
