A rating appeared for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 in July. This happened shortly after Ubisoft announced the game – which has been praised as one of the best Assassin’s Creed titles in recent years – would also be released on other platforms.
A French online store recently showed a temporary cover and description for the game. It’s possible this was posted accidentally or prematurely, but fans quickly noticed it. If the listing is accurate, it doesn’t come as a shock.
When is Assassin’s Creed Shadows Coming to Switch 2?
As a huge Assassin’s Creed fan, I’m really excited for Shadows! There’s no official release date for the Switch 2 version yet, but everyone’s guessing it’ll be out pretty soon. It seems like it’s going to come out around the same time as Star Wars: Outlaws did – that game launched on the Switch 2 on September 4th, so fingers crossed for a similar timeframe!
In July, Assassin’s Creed Shadows received a rating for Nintendo’s next console, suggesting a release is coming soon, as these ratings typically appear just before a game launches. Now, a French retailer, Auchan, has listed the game for sale, further hinting at an imminent release.
On the French storefront, it’s written:
Experience Assassin’s Creed Shadows in a whole new way with Nintendo Switch 2!
Become a master of stealth and experience intense combat in this game. Play as Naoe, a skilled ninja, and use shadows, sound, and light to stay hidden. Sneak into enemy bases using parkour moves and a new grappling hook, and eliminate targets with shurikens, smoke bombs, or your Hidden Blade. Or, play as Yasuke, the samurai, and silently take down enemies with a bow, or unleash powerful attacks with a katana or naginata.
As a gamer, I love how this game lets me switch between two totally different heroes. It’s awesome because I can change up my strategy on the fly – do I want to sneak around using stealth, or go in strong with raw power? It really lets you experience feudal Japan in two unique ways: as a shadow or with steel!
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched in March 2025 and received high praise in our review. We were particularly impressed with the game’s beautiful graphics, immersive world, and engaging story.
