Although Ubisoft has disclosed the PC specifications and aspects of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, console users remain uninformed about the visual quality on PS5, Xbox Series X|S.
Starting today, Ubisoft unveils a wealth of details concerning the game’s technical specifications, along with a fresh trailer showcasing the visual capabilities of both PC and console systems.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows On Consoles Will Be Able To Run At 60 Frames-Per-Second
During a tech Q&A session, Ubisoft shared details about the console performance of Assassin’s Creed Shadowswith the community.
Pierre F, Technology Director for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, confirmed that both PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game will support playing at 60 frames per second (FPS) in 2160p resolution, enhanced through upscaling. Further details about the modes available on these consoles will be revealed prior to the game’s release.
There are a lot more technical questions asked, such as the game’s Atmos tool.
A: Could you elaborate on the “Atmos” device featured in the game, which seems to manipulate the weather? How does its presence in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows differ from its use in the earlier installments?
Pierre F: Atmos is a program that uses physics to create realistic, dynamic weather simulations with cloud formations within Shadows. Previously, artists would manually create and paste clouds into the sky, which limited the diversity of cloud patterns and often resulted in unnatural arrangements. However, with Atmos, we can now simulate natural cloud structures that aren’t static; they change and evolve over time. Additionally, transitions between weather conditions are smoother, such as the gradual dissipation of clouds after a storm.
Additional points raised in the Q&A involve the announcement of an in-game benchmark for assessing and adjusting scalability settings. Furthermore, players using PC versions have the ability to activate a performance display to monitor metrics like frames per second and GPU usage.
Audiophiles will be glad to hear Assassin’s Creed Shadows will support DTS:X and Dolby Atmos.
In terms of Field of View (FOV), PC players have the ability to adjust it between 85% and 115%. They can also enable or disable motion blur, and fine-tune Anti-Aliasing using the upscale option or choosing native Anti-Aliasing from the settings menu.
Although everything else looks promising, there’s a small hiccup: Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not support Steam Deck at its release. As stated by Ubisoft, “At launch, the game will not be compatible with Steam Deck because it falls below our minimum PC system requirements.
Following another setback resulting from the intricate parkour features in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the anticipated release date has been confirmed for March 20. This title is now ready to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and personal computers.
For those receiving it in Japan, remember that it may contain excessive violence which is subject to censorship in the country.
