Even though it’s been over ten years since it came out, Ubisoft is still updating Assassin’s Creed Unity. A new update is now available, but it’s only for Xbox Series X/S consoles. This patch fixes a problem specific to those two consoles and is a relatively small download – about 0.44 GB on both Series S and X.
Since its debut in 2007, the Assassin’s Creed series has released 14 main games, and Assassin’s Creed Unity is often considered one of the most controversial. While it had a very difficult launch, plagued by serious bugs, glitches, and performance problems that drew criticism from players and reviewers, Ubisoft has since fixed many of these issues. Now, players can enjoy Unity‘s refined parkour and improved stealth mechanics, which were advancements over earlier games in the series.
Assassin’s Creed Unity Gets New Update on Xbox Series X/S
Ubisoft recently released an update for Assassin’s Creed Unity – over 12 years after the game first came out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. This patch, version 1.6.0.26, is currently only available for Xbox Series X/S. It fixes a visual glitch affecting character lighting. After downloading the roughly 0.44GB update, players on those consoles should no longer experience this problem.

A new update, patch 1.6.0.26, has just been released for Assassin’s Creed Unity, following a large update that enabled 60 frames per second (FPS) gameplay on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While the game was previously playable on these consoles, it was limited to 30 FPS due to older hardware. Now, players can revisit the French Revolution and experience a smoother, faster-paced game with 60 FPS.
Ubisoft has been surprisingly updating some of its older games recently. Last April, they added support for 60 frames per second to Far Cry 4 for PlayStation 5 players. While Xbox Series X/S didn’t get the same update, that’s likely because the console already had a feature to boost the game to 60 FPS since 2021. In addition, Ubisoft is adding Steam achievements to several older titles, including Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Far Cry 5, and others.
Ubisoft recently shared its plans for the future of the Assassin’s Creed series, and the news included a performance upgrade for Assassin’s Creed Unity – it will now run at 60 frames per second. They also gave an update on the upcoming game Assassin’s Creed Hexe and officially confirmed a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, which has been rumored for a long time. While Ubisoft didn’t share many specifics, they did suggest that more details about these projects will be revealed soon, encouraging fans to stay tuned.
