Summary
- Windows 11 update caused issues with two Assassin’s Creed games.
- Fixes issued for AC Origins & Valhalla, but Odyssey may still have problems.
Players who encountered difficulties in playing Assassin’s Creed after a recent Windows update will be happy to learn that a solution has been rolled out. Two sets of updates, or patches, have been distributed for the two Assassin’s Creed games to address this issue. However, it is important to note that some Ubisoft games may still experience issues.
On a regular basis, Windows undergoes updates, and with the release of 24H2 for Windows 11, several innovative and enhanced features were introduced such as Wi-Fi 7 compatibility, energy-saving modes with improved efficiency, and AI Copilot+ PC functions. However, post the update’s launch, some gamers encountered problems that hindered certain games from starting or functioning properly, including titles within the Assassin’s Creed series. This recently announced fix is expected to rectify the issue for two of Ubisoft’s games.
Ubisoft has announced that both “Assassin’s Creed Origins” and “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” have been updated to resolve issues arising from the Windows 11 update 24H2. These updates can be downloaded automatically via Steam, after which the games should launch properly. However, users are advised to free up some storage space prior to installation as the “Origins” patch requires around 230 MB and “Valhalla” approximately 500 MB of space.
Windows Update 24H2 Is Still Plaguing Some Ubisoft Games
It’s unclear exactly what part of the recent Windows update led to some Ubisoft games malfunctioning. Gamers are happy to see that two titles are now working again, but there have been ongoing issues with other games that haven’t been addressed yet. This includes Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which either freezes or fails to work entirely after the update. Previous fixes from Ubisoft reportedly improved the worst of the problems for Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but there may still be performance issues to resolve. Fans of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey who are planning to update Windows might want to wait a bit longer until a fix is available for that game.
Although it’s regrettable that this glitch occurred, it’s currently being addressed. Gamers started noticing troubles with diverse games when the Windows 24H2 update preview debuted five months ago. However, it seems that these problems weren’t rectified before the update was officially released. This situation is particularly inconvenient given Microsoft’s push for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible. Fortunately, most games appear to have experienced only minor issues post-update.
