Astro Bot: Every Boss, Ranked

Astro Bot: Every Boss, Ranked

As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the boss battles in Astro Bot are nothing short of exhilarating! The sheer variety and creativity of these encounters is truly commendable.

In the game Astro Bot, players can explore five primary worlds, along with numerous hidden ones containing levels and more. The adventure concludes with a compact final zone. There are six main bosses in total, each unique and difficult in its own right, ensuring fans of Sony platformers have an engaging experience.

As a gamer, I’ve got to bring up the mini-bosses sprinkled throughout the game, such as the Tama Trio – a mischievous trio of baby birds that show up in the Astro Bot level called Trunk of Funk. Although they add an extra layer of excitement, these mini-bosses don’t quite pack the same punch as the main bosses. For now, let’s concentrate on the big kahunas and evaluate them based on factors like difficulty and ingenuity.

6 Wako Tako

With Lots Of Room And A Good Power-Up, This Octopus Is No Problem

Astro Bot: Every Boss, Ranked

In the Tentacle System of Astro Bot’s game, players encounter Wako Tako, their second adversary – an octopus wearing boxing gloves. The Frog Gloves, which are perfect given that Wako Tako has boxing gloves too, can be used for this battle. This results in a mini-boxing match! Players must defeat Wako Tako’s minions first and then punch its gloves repeatedly to knock it out. Once knocked out, players can target the head, causing the fight to restart.

Unlike many boss battles, this one features an extended fourth act with checkpoints. Players must navigate through a miniature platforming obstacle course, dodging surging water waves along the way, before completing their task. The complexity of the fight is noticeable, making it enjoyable to replay multiple times. Despite its intricacies, it’s not overly difficult because Wako Tako’s moves are clearly demonstrated and players have ample space to maneuver. Additionally, everything is well-illuminated for easier gameplay.

5 Falcon McFly

The Iron Ball Makes This Fight Relatively Safe

Astro Bot: Every Boss, Ranked

In the game “Astro Bot’s,” Falcon McFly is a colossal bird character who serves as the penultimate boss before the final showdown. Initially, players might find Falcon McFly suspicious due to the aerial nature of the battle, as falling off could result in death. However, the vastness of Falcon McFly’s stomach and wingspan offers ample space for exploration, and its well-lit surroundings make it easier for players to navigate.

In this battle, players can activate the unique Iron Suit boost, transforming Astro Bot into a tiny iron ball. This resembles Samus’ ball form from the Metroid series but with an added advantage: Astro Bot becomes invulnerable while in this iron state. By employing this power-up strategically, players can dodge any attack from Falcon McFly. However, they should be cautious not to roll off Falcon McFly’s belly, as it is quite expansive.

4 Mighty Chewy

The First Boss’ Fast Movements Are Quite Tricky

Astro Bot: Every Boss, Ranked

In the video game “Astro Bot,” there’s a colossal gorilla character resembling King Kong, named Mighty Chewy. Unlike King Kong, he doesn’t carry damsel-in-distresses but instead aims to knock down buildings. You’ll find him in the opening galaxy, the Gorilla Nebula. In this game, players have an opportunity to use the Bulldog as a power-up. Although the game is filled with rocket-powered gadgets, the Bulldog’s rockets propel you directly towards enemies, potentially causing harm. The thrust from these rockets is powerful enough to break through tough barriers such as glass.

It’s beneficial because Mighty Chewy’s assault strategy includes hurling glass-encased wall sections at you, as well as attempting to disorient you with bells. For the initial main boss in Astro Bot, Mighty Chewy is quite challenging. He moves faster than many players might anticipate, and besides his usual phases of removing his eyes, players must also break off his individual teeth.

3 Lady Venomara

Balancing On A Platform Against This Snake Is Deadly

Astro Bot: Every Boss, Ranked

In a nod to an older title from 2024, “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown”, which featured a giant snake boss, we encounter Lady Venomara in the game “Serpent Starway”. She serves as the third boss character. Combat against her involves utilizing another animal equipped with rockets, this time being a Chicken, that propels players upward instead of the traditional Bulldog power-up. This is essentially the main difference.

This boss poses challenges due to the unstable ground where players stand, making it difficult to avoid Lady Venomara when she lashes out, covering nearly half the screen. In addition, this battle transforms at the end, compelling players to track her through a dense jungle, evading her attacks and those of her minions. Similar to many snakes, whether large or small, they can be lethal if not handled carefully.

2 Mecha Leon

Limited Time Makes For A Hectic Fight

Astro Bot: Every Boss, Ranked

In the realm of Camo Cosmos, you’ll encounter a colossal chameleon known as Mecha Leon. Serving as the fourth boss in this dimension, he poses a significant challenge to players due to his demanding precision. To add to the tension, your actions must be pixel-perfect. As an extra twist, his power-up for this battle is the Time Stopper, a powerful ability that can temporarily halt time itself for a specified duration.

In this battle, combatants can utilize the additional time given to evade various hazards such as missiles, buzz saws, and fireballs. It’s clear that this is a lethal scenario, and while the Time Stopper is helpful, correctly timing its recharge period can be challenging. As for Mecha Leon, it’s essentially a complex puzzle with numerous dangerous elements attached, especially in the final stage where there’s minimal space to maneuver.

1 Space Bully Nebulax

That Roulette Wheel Is Killer

Astro Bot: Every Boss, Ranked

space antagonist Nebulax stands as the formidable final adversary that all previous events have been building towards. The concluding galaxy, called Deja Vux Dimension, consists of three interconnected levels that may initially seem like one continuous level to players during their first playthrough. The initial phase transports them into a shoot ’em up game reminiscent of Astro Bot, featuring numerous appearances by characters who were previously saved. Following this, the true confrontation commences with Nebulax, who carries a roulette wheel at the start of each phase.

In this game, I often find myself landing on various power-ups or being swarmed by smaller foes. Timing my button presses correctly on the roulette wheel can lead to a manageable boss fight like with the Octo-Balloon, but it’s not always predictable. During my battle against Space Bully Nebulax, I must strategically use at least three power-ups. Unfortunately, I might draw a phase with minions that could last from one to twenty turns, depending on luck. It’s all about the roll of the dice and that’s what makes Space Bully Nebulax such an engaging final boss. This level is as imaginative as it is tough due to its diverse challenges.
