It may have come as a surprise that Astro Bot gained such popularity, given its past association with tech demos like Rescue Mission, showcasing VR capabilities on PSVR, and Astro’s Playroom, demonstrating the DualSense controller’s new functions. However, unlike these titles, Astro Bot was released as a full-priced, mainstream game, seemingly challenging established giants such as Nintendo’s Super Mario and Donkey Kong. Remarkably, it appears that Sony has managed to excel in the 3D platformer genre with Astro Bot, making it their most successful venture into this area.
