- This may be the final update for Astro Bot, as Team Asobi hints at bidding goodbye.
As a long-time fan who has been following Astro Bot since its release, I must say that Team Asobi has outdone themselves yet again with the Winter Wonder update. It’s heartening to see such dedication to post-release content and the thoughtfulness behind it. The fact that they’re keeping things fun and accessible for all ages is a testament to their commitment to quality gaming experiences.
Team Asobi has another addition to Astro Bot coming by the end of the year, and this time it’s a holiday-themed expansion. Nicknamed the “Winter Wonder” update, gamers can anticipate its launch on December 12 at 6 pm Pacific Time/9 pm Eastern Time.
This latest development is another example of the excellent post-launch care provided by Team Asobi for Astro Bot, as they previously offered free weekly speedrun levels starting from November.
Based on what Team Asobi has shared, this update is essentially their method of expressing gratitude towards the players. However, in this particular release, they caution that it might not include levels designed for speedrunning.
Astro Bot’s Winter Wonder Update Won’t Feature Any “Hair-Pulling Challenge”

As a fan, I’m thrilled to share that Team Asobi has indicated that to enjoy the fresh content, we need to have completed the game prior to this exciting update. The studio is keeping things secretive about what’s in store, but rest assured, there will be a delightful level filled with sparkling gifts, a dash of jingle bells, and some new, charming bots!
The “hair-pulling challenge” won’t feature in the upcoming update, as it was seen in the earlier speedrun levels. This change was made to ensure that the update is suitable for both kids and adults. (Team Asobi’s words)
Is there any possibility of another update following this one? Although we can’t definitively say, the announcement by Team Asobi about the Winter Wonder patch seems to indicate that it might be the final update for the game. As they put it, “For now, Astro and the bots are saying goodbye. We’ll catch up with you again sometime.
Of course, that might be the studio just saying goodbye to the year.
If you haven’t tried playing this charming platformer yet, it might be time for you to do so. On Open Critic, the game has received an astounding 99% approval from critics, and is currently rated with a “Mighty” score. In terms of recognition, this quaint platformer has even been nominated as a Game of the Year contender at The Game Awards. To be honest, for a platformer that isn’t open-world or AAA to receive such an accolade? Yes, that certainly is surprising, but it speaks volumes about Team Asobi’s dedication and passion towards their work.
