Astroneer: Glitchwalkers - How to Start DLC

As a seasoned Astroneer player with countless hours spent traversing the stars and uncovering the mysteries of distant planets, I must say that the Glitchwalkers DLC has undeniably added a fresh layer of intrigue to my interstellar adventures. The moment you’ve activated the core of any planet, the quest for the Glitchwalkers begins, leading you into an alternate dimension, the Aeoluz System.

The recently released expansion for “Astroneer” has received varied opinions thus far, but it’s clear that there’s a wealth of material for players to delve into. The new system to explore, a distinct questline, the reintroduction of storms, and an enigmatic adversary make up just some of the intriguing elements in “Astroneer: Glitchwalkers“. Whether you end up enjoying it or not is something entirely different.

The query arises as to when one may embark on the Glitchwalkers DLC. This additional content doesn’t belong to the usual player’s universe, but rather, it’s a kind of parallel realm that players can explore.

When Can You Start the Glitchwalkers DLC in Astroneer?

The first opportunity for players to initiate the Glitchwalkers DLC occurs when they finish activating any planet’s core, thereby accomplishing the mission titled “A Core Concept.” For those starting a fresh game, a new quest named “Is This Thing On?” will become available, serving as an introduction to the main questline for the DLC.

Players can retrieve the DLC even with old game saves. If they’ve already finished the quest “A Core Concept,” it will show up in their mission log. Fortunately, there are no known compatibility concerns, but if you’ve left an old save untouched for a long time, there might be some unexpected issues.

How to Reach the Aeoluz System in Astroneer: Glitchwalkers

To access the new system, you need to finish a key task called “A Core Concept.” This task entails unraveling the core mysteries of any one of the seven planets, with Sylva being the simplest to unlock. Once this mission is accomplished, a fresh quest titled “Is This Thing On?” will show up in your mission log.

  • The next three missions that players will receive from this questline are called “Heya,” “Maintenance Issue,” and “Storm’s a Brewing.” All of these can be completed by pressing the green button at the bottom of the mission log.
  • “Storm’s a Brewing” will give the player a RUBY and the schematic to make another one should they lose the initial gadget.
  • Take the RUBY inside a storm.
    • If you’re having trouble finding a storm, use your compass. The compass can be opened by holding R, and selecting the compass icon. Storms show up as black circles with a purple swirling pattern.
  • Attack the gadget on a vehicle or platform, and place it inside a hotspot. Make sure it gets enough power to perform its function.
    • Hotspots are mini tornadoes that spawn inside storms. The RUBY will point to the nearest hotspot when it is activated.

If players linger close to a hazardous area for too long, they may succumb to its effects, rendering them incapable of absorbing oxygen, no matter how much air they have in their tanks. To resolve this issue, it’s best to evacuate the area, particularly when it’s under the influence of a storm.

  • After collecting some Encrypted Data, head back to the base and analyze it in the research chamber. Once the analysis is complete, press the green button for “No Place Like Home” to start the next quest.
  • The next quest, “Bootstrapped for Cache,” will give the player a new item called the Glitch Portal Anchor.
  • Place it on level ground and activate it to start your DLC journey in the Aeoluz System.

In the DLC, none of your current items from your inventory will transfer over. Several of your earned unlocks may get “erased,” making them unusable.
