The new ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X (and the standard Ally) are generating a lot of buzz thanks to their powerful performance. However, they’re also quite expensive – the Ally X costs a hefty $1,000, which could be a barrier for many potential buyers. According to Xbox’s president, Microsoft didn’t have a clear strategy when deciding how much to charge for the devices.
According to ASUS executives and industry experts, the $1,000 Xbox Ally X and the $599 Xbox Ally were priced solely by ASUS, with no input from Xbox or Microsoft.

The ASUS ROG Ally X is an impressive handheld gaming device that’s incredibly comfortable to hold. It boasts a long-lasting battery, effective cooling, and the ability to add more storage. Plus, it features customizable RGB lighting, responsive buttons, a robust and clear screen, and powerful speakers.

The Xbox Ally X costs $1,000, a price that might discourage many people from buying it. According to Sarah Bond, President of Xbox, Microsoft didn’t have any say in setting that price, as she recently told Variety.

Even though it was expensive, Bond said the Xbox Store sold out almost immediately. He believes the value gamers are getting for their money is well worth the cost.
