Atreus’s Best Bow Abilities in God of War Ragnarok

Atreus's Best Bow Abilities in God of War Ragnarok

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in the realm of Kratos and Atreus, I must say that each bow ability in God of War Ragnarok offers a unique twist to combat, but some truly shine brighter than others.

As Atreus matures and the prophesied Ragnarok draws near in “God of War Ragnarok,” he must forge his own path, separate from his father Kratos. His courage and skills with the bow and arrow will be crucial in this journey, enabling him to face some of the most formidable adversaries across the Nine Realms.

Accompanied by Atreus or even controlling him as a character, Kratos has access to four distinct bow skills throughout God of War Ragnarok. However, which of Atreus’s archery skills is worth enhancing and what makes them unique in their impact on combat within God of War Ragnarok?

4 Splintered Sigil

  • Atreus fires a seeking Sigil Arrow that ricochets between enemies.

As a devoted fan, I eagerly prepare myself with two types of arrows at hand, ready to unleash the power of Splintered Sigil. This allows me to launch a Sigil Arrow that bounces between adversaries, and future enhancements will cause it to fragment, striking every enemy in its vicinity. It’s an incredible tool for dealing damage and runic attacks, but some might find the runic aspect less appealing due to its reliance on elemental reactions from force, frost, or flame generated by Kratos’s formidable weapons.

The Splintered Sigil works well for Atreus’s autonomy, enabling him to swiftly discharge his bow skills while Kratos is engaged in combat with the troops ahead. Although it has good harmony, its reliance on runic energy means it demands a sharp eye rather than focusing solely on high damage output.

3 Sharpshooter Stare

  • Slow down time and shoot three empowered arrows by Pressing R1

Playing alone, the Sharpshooter Stare skill lets players temporarily pause time for accurate shots, using three special arrows that inflict more potent damage than usual. With Kratos present, this ability significantly boosts the damage and stun effects of Atreus’ Leviathan Axe and other weapons, making him a noticeable combat partner.

This bow skill significantly benefits Atreus, as it delivers both heavy stun and substantial harm. It effectively deters enemies from attacking Kratos by creating a diversion, and it inflicts a considerable amount of damage on tougher, high-health adversaries like bosses.

2 Stinging Barrage

  • Fires a powerful single shot of several arrows at once that collide with heavy impact.

The Stinging Barrage delivers a modest stun and minor damage but offers a unique advantage by firing a strong, solitary volley of arrows that collide forcefully to disrupt enemy attacks. Although it’s not the quickest or most effective weapon, it proves useful when Atreus must hold his own in a grand battle against lesser opponents.

Although it may not be the strongest tool against the toughest challenges in the Nine Realms, it undeniably delivers results when it comes to causing damage and inducing stuns. However, its true potential is somewhat limited compared to other skills that players will acquire as the game progresses.

1 Falling Sky

  • Fires a cascade of disruptive Sonic Arrows to bombard the area.

A prolonged cool-down period doesn’t diminish Falling Sky’s excellence as a bow skill; on the contrary, when equipped, Atreus will launch a torrent of disorienting Sonic Arrows from his quiver. These Sonic Arrows are particularly useful for causing stuns, making it an effective tactic to use them in conjunction with an ability that allows Atreus to bombard an area. This collaboration between father and son becomes especially strategic as they navigate the challenges of Ragnarok together.

This skill is particularly adaptable as future improvements will boost its capabilities in inflicting damage, runes, and stunning enemies. This makes it stand out among the group in terms of its potential across all three archery skill categories. Unfortunately, it comes with a longer recharge time compared to many others.
