Attack on Titan has become one of the most famous and beloved anime series of all time. It began airing in 2013 and concluded a decade later in 2023. Since then, new content has been limited, as expected. While fans received a movie called Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, it was simply a recap of existing material and didn’t offer anything new. Despite this, fans enjoyed it, and they’ll be pleased to hear that Attack on Titan is returning with more content.
The final chapter of Attack on Titan, titled “The Last Attack,” is premiering in Japan very soon, on January 9th. This release is a remastered version of the existing “Attack on Titan: The Last Attack” film. While fans are thrilled, a release date for North America and other regions has not yet been announced.
Attack on Titan’s Is Making a Comeback In Theaters with A Movie Remaster
For years, fans worldwide have been captivated by the intense and thought-provoking story of Attack on Titan, making it one of the most popular anime series ever created. While new episodes have been scarce, fans can now look forward to a new project: a remastered version of Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, now titled Attack on Titan: The Final Chapter – The Last Attack. This updated movie will cover the thrilling conclusion of the anime series and is a great chance for fans to experience the epic finale on the big screen.
Attack on Titan’s Movie Remaster Will Be Released In Japan On January 9
Even though it doesn’t offer much new story content, fans of Attack on Titan are still expected to see the new movie. Attack on Titan: The Final Chapter – The Last Attack will be released in Japan on January 9, 2026, with the original, non-remastered version returning to theaters on January 16, 2026.
I’m still waiting for some news about when this movie will be released internationally. It’s a bit odd that a North American release hasn’t been confirmed yet, especially with the premiere date getting so close. It’s unclear if we in the US will even get to see it, but fans of Attack on Titan everywhere are hoping it doesn’t stay limited to Japan. We’re all really eager to find out if it will get a wider release!
What The Future Holds For Attack on Titan
While a remastered version of Attack on Titan is a nice treat for fans, they’re really hoping for new episodes or stories. Unfortunately, there’s currently nothing new in the works from creator Hajime Isayama.
While Hajime Isayama may move on to other projects, an Attack on Titan prequel anime seems like a real possibility, given the existing story material. Whether it actually happens remains uncertain, but fans are hoping for an announcement by 2026.
