As an ardent fan who has followed Attack on Titan since its inception, I can’t contain my excitement for “Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK”! The anticipation has been building ever since the announcement of changes in production, and now that we know it’s coming to U.S. theaters in early 2025, my heart is racing faster than Eren Yeager chasing a Titan!
Title announcement: “Attack on Titan: The Final Battle” hits U.S. shores! The climactic tale of “Attack on Titan” has fans buzzing for numerous reasons. Although initial apprehension arose from production alterations, excitement swelled as audiences eagerly awaited to witness studio MAPPA’s take on the final storyline.
The final, four-part season was quite a rollercoaster ride. At the conclusion of each segment, viewers found themselves eagerly anticipating the next installment. Remarkably, MAPPA managed to sustain the excitement and produce content that left audiences exhilarated. Despite some disagreement about the original ending, MAPPA undeniably breathed life into the action sequences and provided stunning visuals.
Following all those events, they still had one more surprise: parts 3 and 4 would be combined into a film, featuring new scenes! The movie titled “Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK ” made its debut in Japan last November, receiving positive feedback from the audience. Not long ago, during CCXP24 in São Paulo (Brazil), Crunchyroll announced it would collaborate with Sony Pictures again to screen the movie in North American theaters early next year, 2025! The film will also be released in numerous other countries.
I’m super excited to share that we’re in for a cinematic treat with the grand finale of an enormously praised anime series, all wrapped up into one epic film! As of now, there’s no specific release date announced, but considering “early 2025” often means within the first three months of the year, we might not have to wait too long. The movie itself clocks in at a whopping 145 minutes, so grab your popcorn and settle in for an unforgettable ride!

Regardless of switching studios between seasons 3 and 4, Hiroshi Seko retained his role as head writer for both “Attack on Titan Final Season” and the movie “The Last Attack.” Some of his other notable works as a main screenwriter include “Seraph of the End,” “Ajin: Demi-Human,” “Banana Fish,” and “Dorohedoro.
Yuichiro Hayashi has been overseeing the series direction since the Final Season, and additionally directed the latest compilation movie. Interestingly, Hayashi had previously collaborated with Hiroshi Seko before Attack on Titan, when he helmed the anime adaptation of Dorohedoro in early 2020. At CCXP24, Hayashi shared a bit about his experience directing Attack on Titan and the weighty responsibility he felt in bringing this cherished series to its conclusion.
Among those staff members coming back are Tomohiro Kishi in character design, Kuniaki Nemoto handling art direction, and Daisuke Niinuma serving as chief animation director – a role distinct from that of the general director.
