As a veteran gamer who has been through the trenches of countless Call of Duty games, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia mixed with anticipation as I approach August 21st. The end of Modern Warfare 3’s Zombies storyline marks not just the conclusion of an era for me, but also a significant milestone in my own gaming journey.

With the arrival of Season 5 Reloaded, Activision is getting ready to wrap up the Zombies storyline in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, signaling the end of an epoch for enthusiasts of this beloved game mode. On August 21st, the final story mission for Zombies in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released, accompanied by a substantial update packed with new content.

As support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 starts to dwindle, enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating what’s next, particularly the thrilling Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Once again, Treyarch is aiming to revamp this mode while reintroducing beloved elements that long-time fans will cherish. Unlike the Zombies mode in Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 is returning to its roots and emphasizing round-based Zombies, a feature that fans have consistently asked for with each new release. Players can also look forward to the return of wonder weapons, perks, and many other exciting features.

But for fans still holding Modern Warfare 3‘s Zombies near and dear, the end is quickly approaching. On August 15, Activision released the final story mission trailer for the mode and confirmed that August 21 would see the Zombies storyline come to a conclusion with the launch of Call of Duty‘s Season 5 Reloaded update. It’s currently unconfirmed if Modern Warfare 3 will have a sixth season prior to the launch of Black Ops 6, but fans shouldn’t expect any new Zombies missions to complete if it does.

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Set to End With Season 5 Reloaded

In July, Activision unveiled Season 5 for Call of Duty , and at the same time, they announced what additional content would be added to the Zombies mode of Modern Warfare 3 as part of a mid-season update. On August 21st, gamers can embark on the final story mission, where Operation Deadbolt faces off against a formidable foe called the Entity in a new area of Dark Aether. If players manage to survive this mission, they’ll be treated to a closing cinematic that leads them into the new Dark Aether Rift. This rift will provide players with another chance to secure some potent rewards and permanent unlocks.

Season 5 Reloaded will also give Zombies players the chance to grab three new schematics:

  • Disciple Bottle: Spawn a friendly Disciple to wreak havoc against enemies.
  • Grenade Bandolier: Replenish Lethal and Tactical Equipment over time, allowing regular bombardment of enemies.
  • Stash Increase: Increase stash size to 30.

On August 21, fans bidding farewell to the era of Modern Warfare 3‘s Zombies mode have something exciting to anticipate: the new installment in the series, Black Ops 6, is coming soon. For players eager to try out its innovative omnidirectional movement system in multiplayer, the open beta starts on August 30. However, if you’re keen on experiencing fresh Zombies content, you’ll have to wait until the complete launch of Black Ops 6 on October 25.
