The creators of the challenging game *Getting Over It* are back with a new physics-based game called *Baby Steps*. The game centers around Nate, a lazy and unsuccessful young man who finds himself in a peaceful mountain setting and must learn to turn his life around. Game Rant spoke with the development team – Gabe Cuzzillo, Maxi Boch, and Bennett Foddy – about *Baby Steps*, with Foddy explaining Nate’s personality and how he differs from typical male protagonists in video games.

When questioned about whether *Baby Steps* was meant to be a parody of “walking simulator” games, Bennett Foddy explained that he saw it more as a playful twist on large, open-world games like *Assassin’s Creed* – which also involve a lot of exploration on foot. *Baby Steps* does have a main story, where the character Nate explores a strange new world, but it’s very free-form. The game doesn’t use quest markers or to-do lists, allowing players to explore at their own speed and choose their own paths.

It’s no surprise that *Hollow Knight: Silksong* is proving incredibly popular. Since its release in early September, over 5 million people have started playing on all platforms, with half a million joining on Steam within just a few hours. The game’s player base is still growing, and developers plan to release updates and improvements to make the experience even better for both new and returning players.
