
In the previous year, Sony faced a significant backlash when they announced that PSN account integration would be required for “Helldivers 2” on Steam. This decision sparked such anger that Sony eventually reversed their stance on the matter. However, since then, Sony has enforced the linking of PSN accounts in subsequent PlayStation PC releases, including games like “God of War Ragnarok” and “Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered”. Given that “Marathon” is coming out for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, there have been concerns about Sony requiring the PSN account link for the live-service extraction shooter, considering that Bungie, a PlayStation subsidiary, owns the company.
