As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that Ubisoft has some exciting plans for an upgrade on “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” coming later this year. This update is set to include sought-after features such as New Game Plus and a third-person perspective mode. Despite the impressive lineup in 2023, which included heavyweights like “Baldur’s Gate 3,” “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” and others that dominated the gaming scene, “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” somehow managed to fly under the radar upon its December release. I can’t wait to see how this update elevates my experience in this captivating world!
As a passionate gamer, I must say that while the launch of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora didn’t exactly set the world on fire with fanfare, it still managed to draw in a massive crowd, with around two million players joining in during its first few weeks. The brilliant minds at Massive Entertainment followed this up by releasing two story DLCs in 2024. The first one, named The Sky Breaker, dropped in July, and the second, called Secrets of the Spires, landed in late November. Just like most AAA games, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has seen a steady stream of updates and patches in-between, introducing enhancements such as a more stable 40 FPS mode. However, some of the fans’ bigger requests have yet to be addressed until now.
In late 2025, on December 5, which marks the two-year anniversary of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Massive has planned a significant game update. This update will introduce two notable additions to the game: New Game Plus and an engaging third-person perspective mode. The developers have confirmed that in New Game Plus, players can embark on a fresh adventure within Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, retaining their existing inventories and unlocked skills while also providing a new skill tree, advanced gear, and tougher enemies for a greater challenge.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Getting New Game Plus and Third-Person Modes in December
Initially, enthusiasts of James Cameron’s “Avatar” film series were disappointed when they learned that “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” would offer a first-person perspective upon its initial reveal. However, upon release, this first-person view combined with Ubisoft’s open-world game design led many players to perceive “Frontiers of Pandora” as just an “Avatar-themed Far Cry” game. With the upcoming update due in December, there’s a chance that this third-person perspective option could encourage those who were initially deterred by the first-person view to give “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” another look. This update is also expected to bring smaller enhancements and new features, which might be unveiled closer to the update’s release date.
The new update for “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” coincides perfectly with the release date of the third Avatar film, “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” set for December 17. As a result, enthusiasts of James Cameron’s enduring sci-fi series can anticipate an exciting holiday season, as “Fire and Ash” is widely regarded as one of the most highly anticipated films due out towards the end of the year, alongside “Wicked: For Good.
