Summary
- Avengers: Doomsday is a highly anticipated flagship movie for the MCU.
- Changes in casting and plot decisions have caused concerns among fans.
- Filming delays due to script issues have raised worries about organization and planning.
The way each Marvel Cinematic Universe film is presented and promoted makes it seem like a grand occasion. But with “Avengers: Doomsday,” it’s not just hype – it’s been built up for years as the main event for this franchise. Surprisingly, the anticipation for its release on May 1, 2026 isn’t reaching the heights that past Avengers films have achieved.
One explanation for this is that many changes throughout the development process have given the current phase of the MCU a fragmented feel. The shift away from Kang as a central character and the casting of Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom, which has taken fans by surprise, have contributed to this disjointedness. Even though Avengers: Doomsday promises a star-studded cast that will attract audiences, recent rumors about the film are not easing concerns ahead of its release.
Based on what industry expert Daniel Richtman shares, the start of filming for “Avengers: Doomsday” has been postponed from its original schedule in March. Earlier plans indicated that filming would take place in the United Kingdom, with Chris Hemsworth and others spotted arriving in London, England. However, this has now been rescheduled to April. Although delays in production are common, the reason for this one might be a bit more alarming, as it’s being reported that the script isn’t quite ready yet.
For many MCU enthusiasts, it’s concerning that the script for what seems to be Marvel’s key upcoming movie, “Avengers: Doomsday,” appears to lack pre-planning and organization. Fans are growing anxious as things seem to be coming together hastily, much like during the multiverse phase. However, with the film scheduled for release next year, it’s worrying that Marvel doesn’t appear to have solid plans in place at this stage, given that fans expect they would have ideas finalized by now.
Typically, Marvel Studios is meticulously planned for the long term, which is why the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has thrived for so long. However, it seems that this level of organization might not be present right now, which could pose issues for a movie of this magnitude. Given the numerous actors set to appear in this production, any delays would exacerbate the challenges as schedules will already be tight. Reports indicate that Tom Holland’s stunt double will shoot many Spider-Man scenes because of Holland’s availability, and further delays could compound these issues.
As a devoted follower, I must admit that some aspects of this current phase of the MCU didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Yet, there was an underlying hope that the upcoming Avengers films would make it all worthwhile, transforming them into blockbuster events. However, the news of the delay in filming Avengers: Doomsday has stirred up quite a storm among fans, adding to the already prevalent negativity surrounding the MCU. This only serves to heighten the pressure on the movie, making us eagerly await its release with bated breath.
