In the immersive world of Avowed, I, as a player, stumble upon an abundance of weapons and armor scattered around. However, it’s crucial to note that not everything gleaming in the game is top-tier. There’s a vast collection of extraordinary equipment hidden within, each with unique perks that can mold my character into the dream hero I envision.
In Dawnshore, the initial zone of the game, you’ll find several unique, helpful items that could potentially take you from the start to the finish of the game with ease. If you’re seeking a decent weapon or outfit to aid you during your journey through the story missions in Avowed, here are some suggestions for you to mull over.
Arcanist’s Boots
You can get The Arcanist’s Boots immediately upon arriving at Dawnshore. From the pier, cast your gaze to the left where you’ll spot a lighthouse in the horizon. Ascend to the top of the lighthouse, and there you will discover a chest that holds this distinctive armor piece.
When donning the Arcanist’s Boots, the potency of your health restoring abilities increases by 5%, and you receive a 10% boost in your movement speed as well.
Boots of the Bricklayer
These boots are intended for nimble combatants. They slightly enhance your Evasion Range and boost your Load-Bearing Ability. If you prefer to avoid being hit altogether rather than recuperating lost health with the Arcanist’s Boots, then these could be the ideal pair of shoes for you.
To acquire those boots, make your way to the ruins known as Pargrun Cache. Ascend to the peak until you find a courtyard area where skeletons reside. In one of the castle’s corners, you’ll discover a wall that can be demolished with explosives. Once demolished, search the chest within for your desired boots.
Unflinching Duty Shield

This is an eye-catching shield that’s hard to overlook. You can acquire it following a fight with the Dreamthrall Bear boss, which you can encounter quite early in the game. It offers a 10% chance to completely dodge damage and boosts your Max Stamina by 30 points as well.
Last Light of Day Sword and Delver’s Caution Ring
As a gamer, I found out that at the end of the Dawntreader sidequest, you’ll come across an awesome flaming sword. To grab it, head over to the Eothasian Temple dungeon in Pilgrim’s Path. Once there, conquer Sargamis, the Eothasian Godlike, and snatch the sword from his fallen form.
With each foe you vanquish, The Last Light of Day automatically upgrades, replenishing about 3% of your health. Furthermore, it inflicts a modest extra fire damage. To amplify its passive abilities, you may empower it at your campsite.
Upon arriving at Paradis, find Caedmon (alternatively, Ofryc) close to the Aedyrian Embassy. They will provide you with Delver’s Caution, a ring that enhances your Dexterity by 1 and increases your Parkour Speed by 15%.
Paradis Bounty Board Rewards

Inside Paradis, there’s a notice board displaying five individuals marked as bounties, waiting to be hunted. Each one carries a distinctive treasure for you to claim upon capture.
Target | Unique Item | Effects |
---|---|---|
Nacib | Steel Garrote’s Plate Armor (on a corpse in the middle of the cave) |
|
Tempestuous Luandi | Caeroc’s Pride Pistol |
|
Ralga | Seven Strivings Great Axe (on a nearby corpse) |
|
The Yellowband | Arcanist’s Gambeson (in a nearby chest) |
|
Octav | Sheathed in Summer Dagger |
|
Once you claim the bounties, you’ll find indicators guiding you directly to each bounty’s location. It’s not necessary to complete the bounties to collect their rewards, but finishing them will certainly simplify (and enhance) your gaming journey.
Ring of Slow Essence
Once you’ve obtained the Steel Garrote Plate Armor, depart from the Ruinous Cavern through an exit nearby. Navigate towards a section of Paradis’ outer wall, using the statue depicted in the image above as a guide. Interact with this statue to unlock a hidden wall to your left. This secret passage will lead you to a chest, where you can find the Ring of Slow Essence.
This ring gradually restores your Essence, enabling you to perform more spells during combat without needing potions as backup. On its own, it may not be very effective, but when combined with other Essence regeneration sources, it becomes quite useful.
You can also reach this area by climbing the scaffolding below the cliff.
Anextli’s Grimoire
This one-of-a-kind tome lessens your skill expenditure and cool-down periods. Moreover, it offers the spells Fan of Flames, Arcane Veil, Grimoire Snap, and Missile Salvo. However, you must invest points into the Grimoire Mastery skill to utilize the latter two effectively. You can discover Anextli’s Grimoire by exploring a skeleton situated north of Ivona’s Threshold pier.
Anextli’s Tome is incredibly beneficial for close-combat players, as the Arcane Veil ability significantly enhances your durability. By possessing this tome, you eliminate the need to allocate a skill point towards Arcane Veil. If you already have the spell, equipping Anextli’s Tome will effectively boost Arcane Veil by one level. Additionally, Grimoire Snap is an effective tool for managing large groups, and Missile Salvo can assist in handling distant adversaries or dishing out concentrated damage.
