Honestly, it still feels a little weird to me that Avowed – Obsidian’s new fantasy RPG set in the world of Pillars of Eternity – actually came out way back in February! Since then, the developers have been steadily improving it, following their planned updates. We’ve already gotten a big overhaul for the Fighter and Ranger classes, an extra six talent points to play with, and – this is my favorite – they even let you change those creepy spiders into glowing orbs! It’s been cool to see the game evolve.
So, we were all expecting an update this fall, like the developers originally planned for their 2025 roadmap. They even pointed out on Discord that fall is almost over! Unfortunately, it looks like that update isn’t happening this fall for Avowed. Bummer, but hopefully it means they’re taking the time to make it really good!
Good news! To make up for the delayed fall update, Obsidian is planning a larger one-year anniversary update in February. This update will include everything originally promised for the fall, plus even more new content, making it their biggest update for the game so far.
Obsidian isn’t sharing specifics about the extra features just yet. Don’t expect a detailed announcement anytime soon – the studio is keeping information under wraps and simply asks fans to “Stay tuned” for updates coming in 2026.
